Drug Safety: on Allen University campus you don't see alot of students using drugs. the past couple years under age drinking has become a problem.

Academics: The Limited Attention – Being a Social Science Major at Allen University can be difficult. The reason why because as a beginning college freshman I was supposed to have an Academic advisor person helped me in my degree area. The fact that I didn't have one my most critical year of college held me back from taking the classes I reallly needed to take. I had to learn to go get help even if they didn't want to give it.

Party Scene: Nothing to Do on Campus – there is really nothing to do on campus besides Frats/Soros but I cant do it because im a freshman

4 College Student

Parking: Parking is good because it has alot of good available spaces

Local Area: Not Much to Do – Columbia is a big circle but nothing isnt really near. So you basically have to have a car or know somebody that does

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Men's Basketball – Valuable program. Very good rapport between teammates and coaching staff. Looking forward to upcoming season!

Campus Food: OUR CAFETERIA SHOULD BE NAMED DIVERSITY – The dining facilities are always clean and you have enough of a concientious staff to make sure that everyone gets waited on in a timely fashion. There may be some long lines at times, however they do not last long.

The food is magnificent, but you must consider that the writer of this review is an Adult. The Food consists, and I will categorize here: Cold cuts with plenty of lettuce and tomatoes and pickles; a salad bar; beverages of many kinds, both hot and col; pizza corner; fast food bar with chicken(baked, barbequed and sometimes fried), french fries, wonderful main courses which consist of many and varied vegetables, different types of rice dishes, lean meats, soups, potatoes, and just about anything a person could want. There is also fresh fruit in season. Oh yes and one more thing, desert(cakes and pies).

So you see why I stated the Cafeteria should be named Diversity or maybe even Diverse City!!

Technology: The computer lab always has some students there, I will venture to say that even on the weekends you will find students in the computer lab.

The equipment is fast and reliable and if there is a problem of any kind there is always personnel on hand to help you. We could always use more computers. We have many diligent students. The only reason that I don't give an A+ is that the computer Labs close to early and not open seven days a week.

Off-Campus Housing: I live in my own home @200miles from Allen University.I am also an Independent Adult student which makes all the difference in the world. Just due to distance, there is a time factor involved (leaving home, returning to home). Not convenient, but necessary. I am a member of the African American Episcopal Church. I am not now, nor at anytime, have I been the only student with the distance problem. But we do what we must!!

The school's off-campus housing facilities are not an issue here. Since I am only on campus on the weekends I have no idea what the policies are,or where students are living, or how convenient the commute is for other students.

Scholarships: The financial aid process here at Allen is a little messy and unorganized. However, if one keeps in contact with the office and handles their business very seriously it will eventually be straightened out. Cost of attendance is only about 16,124 a year.

Party Scene: Nightlife sor students under 21 is just as great as over 21. There are many clubs around Columbia, SC. As for the bars there is a whole strip of them down 5 points which is just a 5 to 10 minute walk from campus.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Allen Safety – There is always police or security around the campus. Crime is low and personal saftey is high especially due to curfews. I have never felt unsafe on campus

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: Since I have been here I have had major difficulties and tried to make the best of things, but still something always ordinary happens.

3 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Since the school is small eveyone is friendly to each other.

1 College Sophomore

Diversity: There are many religions and eithnic/racial diveristy.

Campus Housing: Life on Allen University campus is very usual. it seems like we are prisoniers. we dont have many sport or event to keep us entertained. They have polices riding round every 5 mins. This is not the college life i expext to have. They don't even have teacher showing up for sum of the classes. This is what the college life feels like at allenn university.

Parking: Parking on campus can be a mess a times. One has to make sure that he/she must be on campus atleast 45min early, because of the limited parking spaces.

Drug Safety: Why Oh Why ? Allen University should rethinking the fact that they cancelled the drug raids we used to have! I mean drugs are always visable, but they are always there & if you need them they are at your convience! I have noticed that alot of people smoke, and to me thats just terrible. Ive noticed people going to class drunk & its just so unacceptable to me!

Greek Life: Says It All ! There are various greeks at my school & i absolutley love them! We always have parties, scool events, & many different celebrations that greeks organize & they always turn out really well ! I want to be a greak, I look upto the greeks & I respect those greeks who do the right thing! Anyone that I know who isnt a greek already has it in their mind which greek they want to join! I think the greek Life at Allen university is exceptionally well ! I love our Greeks !

Campus Quality: Life at Allen – Life at Allen University , is rather basic.! I mean yes new dorms were built & they are nice, but I just feel were paying for a good education & thats it! The staff is very friendly, The president is nice & well so are the students, but everything else isn't so good.! We have student activities from time to time & well they go good sometimes but other times it gets cancelled & that leaves the studenst with nothing to do! I will admite our campus is veru clean & the students do help keep it that way & our campus is but it gets the job done! I do like our gym & our library because they are both very spacious & seem to always have alot of activity going on in them! Overall Allen University is a nice school but some things can be improved !

Guys & Girls: All Rounders – Everybody gets a long its a small university so its one big family.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Mall Time – It has a lot of unique things to choose from. A very wide diversity of foods and food choices.

1 College Sophomore

Athletics: There are almost no sports at all at this school. We have a basketball team which is pretty decent and a cheerleading squad that needs a certified coach. Other than these two sports, there are none

2 College Sophomore

Academics: Allen University is a small privately owned A.M.E. religiously based school. It is one of the smallest H.B.C.U.'s in the United States. I came to this school to study in the field of social science. The teachers are fairly nice but seem less dedicated to their jobs. The financial aid and registration process can be a big mess. There seems to always be things wrong on everyone's financial student accounts and the some of the staff can be very rude and semi-helpful in the process. Two new dorms were built recently and they are beautiful and for the most part organized. The cafeteria is nice but the food could be better. They ofter serve food that isn't always cooked thoroughly which is why i don't eat there too often. One of the great things about the school is the one on one learning that you get from the teachers. They are always willing to help and give you that extra push you need. If you make failing grades, there is no one to blame but yourself because the teachers are always there for help. They also have many events during the school year to keep things interesting which are always a blast. Overall, the school is okay but needs work.
