Freshmen can go to house parties or do something entirely different, like go to Meadville’s theater or bowling alley. In order to have a vibrant social life as an underclassman, you’ll have to start meeting people through classes and getting invited to their parties. There are some good parties at Allegheny, but nothing loud or out of control because the cops live for busting underage drinkers and loud parties. Campus Security won't bother you, but the cops sure will if an angry neighbor calls it in.
For upperclassmen, the nightlife is the bars. There are a lot of different bars, but the one you’ll go to will probably depend on who you’re going with and what kind of atmosphere you like. Pennsylvania has really strict drinking laws; you won’t be able to even go into the bar until you turn 21. However, the bars are a good scene to go to, and since Allegheny is so small, there’s a good chance that you’ll know everyone there. The Other Place (also known as The Penny Bar) is the most popular with students for its $2 beers.
