Off-Campus Dining

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Cost usually is not an issue. Most places in town recognize that a lot of their business comes from the college students. Most places aren't very far from campus either. Discounts are offered at a few places. More discounts would be great! Some of the places to check out are Grace Asian and Julian's.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There are lots of good places to eat off campus. There is of course a large variety of fast food but there are some good local places to eat. Market House is fantastic especially for breakfast. Compadres is a great Mexican restaurant that many of the college students enjoy.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Very limited options close to campus other than fast food

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: there's about one good restaurant, timber creek tap and table. The rest is mostly just fast food and chains. Though it's cheap, it's obviously not good. sometimes it beats Brooks, but it could be better, especially given the college students willingness to spend money on better options

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: It's pretty good, but you need a car unless you want to go to the same 2 places every time

For a small town, Meadville has many off-campus eating options, with every kind of fast food imaginable and chain restaurants ranging from Perkins to Red Lobster. Then, there are the real cornerstones of any Meadvillian dining experience—the independently-owned-and-operated restaurants. Restaurants like Compadres, Julian’s, the Whole Darn Thing Sub Shop, and the Creative Crust Bakery are by far the best eateries in town, and they are surprisingly cheap, especially compared to the on-campus food options. On top of the cheaper prices, many local restaurants offer Allegheny students a 10-percent discount. Students that never go off campus will miss out on these treasures.

Compadres is the only Mexican food in town, but it is incredibly authentic. The Artist Cup Café is a popular place to study and catch a live band or poetry reading. There are no Indian, Thai, French, or other foreign restaurants in town, which can be disappointing. This causes a lot of students to drive to Erie to find food that’s unavailable in Meadville. In general, though, dining in Meadville is a really positive experience.
