Local Area: There are a lot of trees. Basically, our is located in the country. We have a great workout gym and recreation center where we can play basketball and other stuff. The attitude here are extremely average.

Majors: The English program is not difficult to get into, but it can be difficult to stay in. The load can be overwhelming with all of the reading and writing, but it takes a lot of dedication and time management skills. The program does require all students to take an Exit Exam, so that is the difficult part. There are two parts to the exam: a written exam and an oral presentation. If you do not pass both parts, you will not receive your degree.

Majors: I have not had an internship yet, but I do plan to get one. My concern about it is that there are not many companies looking for English majors. There are a few options that come through the school and professors, but mainly you have to find one on your own.

Overall Experience: The best thing about my experience here is that I feel at home. The campus is big enough to where it is not boring, but it is small enough to where I feel like a person and not a number. It really takes finding your niche (as it does at any school). What makes this school unique is the diversity and the celebration of diversity. I would definitely choose this school again.

Weather: The weather is pretty pleasant on most days. When it rains, it normally does a little bit of flooding. When it gets hot; it gets really hot. Since we are in the deep south, the weather doesn't get blizzard cold, but it can get cold though. The worst thing is that it gets really humid here.

Transportation: The transportation on campus is iffy. Some days it runs; some days it doesn't. On the days that it does run, it never follows the schedule. Most students just walk. The nearest airport is 2 hours away, and there is no campus nor public transportation to carry students off campus to the store or anything. You have to have a friend with a car for that.

Athletics: Game days are big days for people. There is normally a good turnout. Also, our teams give us something to cheer for. The athletic facilities are pretty good for the varsity teams, but the intramural teams have to "get in where they fit in."

Drug Safety: It is pretty obvious that people use drugs on campus. It's mainly at parties or when people are just hanging out. There are not really rules for drug use on campus, but you can be punished and even taken to jail for drug use at any school function or in any building on campus (including dorms). No one cares if you step outside to smoke or if you come in drunk from a party.

Greek Life: Greek life is very important on campus. Most events take place or are successful because of the contributions of Greeks. Most non-Greeks know Greeks for the parties they throw, but they do more than that including charity work.

Campus Quality: The campus is very beautiful. Students do make their own fun, but there are good campus events that go on. The library is great and pretty modern.

Academics: I am satisfied as an English major. I would contribute this to the fact that there are not many of us so our relationships with our professors are close and attentive. The workload is pretty heavy, but that comes with the territory of being an English major. I wish that there were more internships and job opportunities specifically for English majors though.

Academics: The registration process can be pretty hectic, but you must form a relationship with your advisor/chairperson, or whoever will help you in order to get the best results. ASK Questions!!! We have excellent professors, just try to learn each professor"s individual personality, and you will have a better time in each class. Finally, the school prides itself on diversity and appealing to students' individual needs, so there are special study options and activities.

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining is not very diverse nor is it very healthy, but the few places we do have do serve good food for affordable prices, and the places do stay open pretty late.

Off-Campus Dining: many time when the cafe be close and i be hungry i be glad that we have off campus dining great food and stay open real late

Weather: we have had some good weather on campus not really to hot or to cold perfect weather i love it

2 College Freshman

Transportation: it is best to bring a bike for some reason it would be better with transportation.

5 College Freshman

Academics: we offer many scholarship to academic students those with high GPA and ACT

5 College Freshman

Academics: The Academic is what make this school one of the best HBCU in Mississippi. Top school with academics.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The sports and band is a major deal on campus and is really supported by the school.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial was really a hassle and a headache and if you dont do it on time it will get even worse had a hard time my freshman year but its trying to get better

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: it has its up and down with the safety but the food in the cafe is very healthy with a salad bar

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: We have great food and plenty of options some day there are little to no choices but other than that a great variety

5 College Junior

Academics: I love my department. I am a computer science major and all my professors make an effort to form a relationship with me. There hasn't been a teacher I didn't like. They saw more in me than I originally did and push me.

4 College Junior

Academics: I'm a fast paced guy wrapped in technology. The academics here are easy to follow and the professors know what they are talking about. The workload is enough if you have good time management but most courses help you with the next.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: You find everyone at Alcorn. As small as the school might be, you meet a lot of people who are out of state. Every Wednesday its like the majority of the school dresses in their best business suits, its quite a show.
