Diversity: Not That Diverse – There are not many diverse students expect for those that play sports. The majority is black but everyone is very welcoming and do not hesitate to assist others, whether its academic or not. There are hardly any challenges to overcome and acceptance is very easy. I haven't met any racial persons. Very religious and its a 60/40 boy to girl

Local Area: Nothing to Do – Lorman, Mississippi, is a small town but the atmosphere is very family oriented. Lorman, however, does not have much area attractions, activities, events and shopping malls. The weekends are spent mainly on campus unless you have a car to go home or go out to the nearest recreation areas. The bonus is that you won't spend a lot of money!

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe – I feel safe at Alcorn. Security has a somewhat high presence and always available if you need them. You do the crime, you gotta do the time. So don't park in no parking zones!!

3 College Junior

Parking: Parking is ok. Parking at the cafeteria can be montrous if you get there late. Parking at the dormitory is pretty descent if you get there before 8:00 p.m.

Majors: Its Amazing – This program is excellent it challenges you to be all that you can be. There is always a special presentation that keeps you interest and the teachers are great also.

Majors: Its a Task – Basic majors are very easy to get into. Nursing is not so easy, guess because it is teaching you to care for someones life.

Campus Food: Not to Many! Theres not to many options provided on this campus. If your not eating in the Cafeteria then theres only 2 more once you are kind of tired of it you really have to get creative on your own.

4 College Junior

Majors: Behind the Scenes Policing – As a criminal justice major, I will have an opportunity to shadow a police officer in my home town. This intership is unpaid but I will recieve college credit and on the job training if I decide to become a police officer. My responsilibities are to observe the Police Officer and at the end develop a portfolio to tell about my experience.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: New dorms are great - almost like an apartment. Refrigerator and microwave oven is provided. I feel very safe in these buildings compared to other dorms on campus.

3 College Junior

Parking: If you live on campus you always have the option of the shuttle. More convenient at times if you don't have any classes at the Whitney athletic facility.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: They Don't Care – The kids on this campus does anythinng they want as far as drugs.. Well they inforce the rules for the dorms but they still stand outside doing it and I feel it shoudn't be alound on the campus period.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: They Are Ok – The guys are ok and the girls alot of them walking around here holding another girls hand.

Overall Experience: My First Year Experience – My freshman year at Alcorn was amazing! I meet so many new individuals with different cultures. The campus is like home away from home. The faculty and staff push you and encourage you to do your best! They really want to see you succeed. The teachers will take out extra time to help you if you don't understand. There are many programs and scholarships at Alcorn that can assist you when you need guidance and financial assistance. The greek life really made the campus stand out. They have events that will allow students to come out of that nervous shell and experience fun. Other than the greek life, the college life is wonderful itself. You will make friends without a problem. Everyone is so friendly, and there is always a smile around. I am proud to say that i attend Alcorn State University and if you visit the campus, you would say the same!
