Health & Safety

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: It is just like any other college town, don't walk by yourself at night, be smart. I have never felt unsafe here. Campus safety is always available and there are lights all throughout campus if at any point you feel unsafe you can go to and call campus safety at.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: They have CamPo (Campus police) and they do a pretty good job, they will be there is you really need them. But, the town is a little sketchy so I would not recommend walking alone late in the night, a couple of people have gotten mugged doing that.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: They will give you rides anywhere you need to be, even if you are drunk they will give you a ride because they care about your safety.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Those who work for campus safety take their jobs very seriously and work hard to provide students with the utmost secure campus. There are very accesible places to go if you do feel unsafe and people to talk to if anything ever did happen. Albion College takes the safety and security of their students very seriously.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Everyone on campus feels very safe at any hour of the day because our campus safety runs 24/7.

With Campus Safety officers constantly roaming Albion's well-lit campus, it is rare that a student feels unsafe. There have been a few incidents of violence and crime in the past, but as long as you care about and are aware of your safety, you shouldn't have a problem. Campus Safety officers are more than happy to accompany students home at any time when they may feel unsafe. It is also a good idea to travel in groups, whether it be from a frat party or a late-night study session. You just need to be careful.

There have been some complaints in the past few years about women's health issues and the sexual assault policy on campus. Health Services is generally good about women's health and offers birth control and gynecological services, but they do not offer any form of emergency contraception on campus. Albion's sexual assault policy is "no tolerance," and while some students feel punishments should be harsher for offenders, the College does make an effort to aid sexual assault victims. The Anna Howard Shaw Women's Center offers free counseling and a free sexual assault services hotline for all students in need.
