Drug Safety

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: If you want to drink you can, if you don't you don't have to. You won't get caught as long as your not being blatantly obvious about it. People have gotten busted for drug use though (cocaine).

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Caffeine is the drug of choice on campus. Alcohol is extremely common on weekends, but you won't be excluded if you don't drink. People take adderall a lot around finals/midterms, but other than that the only other drug people do is weed. Hardcore drugs are very uncommon. Date rape drugs are extremely rare too. Most guys at frats actively try to prevent anyone getting drugged. The one instance I'm aware of was because of someone visiting the campus who drugged my friend at a frat. The members of the frat house kicked him out and helped her as much as possible, including checking up even days later to make sure she was doing okay, referred her to counselling and profusely apologized.

Drug Safety: The student body is given an abundance of information regarding the effects of drug usage. We are able to keep ourselves away from this scene if we choose to do so.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drinking is very common, but I know a number of people that don't drink and still have a lot of fun at parties. No one will make you feel bad about it. The only drug that is common on campus is weed, and again, it's totally your choice.

Drug Safety: Drugs and alcohol are somewhat visible on campus, and many students drink alcohol. Students do not usually pressure others to take part in drug or alcohol use. The drug policies are more strictly enforced than the alcohol policies.

As mentioned by many students, the drug scene on campus is hardly overwhelming. Drugs are definitely present, but they don't often find you if you aren't looking for them. This is why there are fewer drug violations on campus than alcohol violations. As with most college campuses, alcohol is very present. This is a fact, whether the administration likes it or not. A lot of students use the excuse that they drink because there is so little to do at Albion, and this may be true. The trouble is when students become dependent on it to have a good time. Moderation is key, as usual.

The most recent craze of drugs, as with many American campuses, has been the use of amphetamines. Students mainly take these to pull all-nighters and study. This may say something about how desperate some students are to keep up with their classes and Albion's rigorous curriculum.
