Off-Campus Housing: You aren't allowed to live off campus. Albion's way of making sure you keep paying room and board.

Technology: The internet at Albion is close to awful. Some of the worst connection you'll find at a school. Near impossible to get anything done because everyone is on.

Overall Experience: Not the best experience I've had, rather poor. I wish I chose a different school. Quite a large amount of cons compared to most schools.

Greek Life: About half the campus is Greek. The fraternities have houses they have to live in but the sororities do not. The big parties are always at the frats. I'm currently pledging a sorority and I love it.

Off-Campus Dining: There's not much variety; there's a McDonalds, KFC, and Pizza Hut in town. There's Cascarelli's, which is a big favorite because they have the best pizza and breadsticks.

Scholarships: Albion is really expensive so almost everyone gets some form of financial aid. I'm having trouble paying my bill so I've been trying to get help from the FA office and they haven't been that much help.

2 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Frat parties are the main thing. There's usually something every weekend. There aren't any nearby clubs, and there's only a few bars.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Health Services staff is really good, but the hours are inconvenient. Campus Safety is okay, not a big deal.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drinking is very common, but I know a number of people that don't drink and still have a lot of fun at parties. No one will make you feel bad about it. The only drug that is common on campus is weed, and again, it's totally your choice.

Local Area: Albion is tiny town with a few restaurants. The locals aren't huge fans of college kids, but be nice to them and you'll have no problems. You can always go into Jackson, about 20 minutes away, for tons of food options and shopping.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: A lot of people complain about the wifi but it's really not bad at all. There's only one 24 hour computer lab, but since nearly everyone has their own laptop it's not really a big deal. More printer access would be nice.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I genuinely love Albion. The few downsides are definitely overshadowed by great people, great classes and professors, and an all around good atmosphere.

Guys & Girls: There's ton of variety in both girls and guys. I guarantee there's someone for everyone here!

Off-Campus Housing: The college really discourages students to go off campus so to try and get off campus you have to get approval from the school for special reasons.

Off-Campus Dining: The was a macdonalds, a taco bell 30 minutes away and then a gas station...

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Amazing advisors that would do anything to make sure you are successful in the future

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Its pretty awesome! The best part is its a small campus so everybody parties in a small area there is a downfall to this though and that is that campus safety breaks up a lot of parties

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Not very many options and sometimes the food doesn't seem very well prepare. This past summer the dining hall was renovated so we will see what's in store this year

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It is a long process that takes a lot of steps to complete and all steps need to be complete in order to get full aid. However, despite this fact a lot of aid is awarded

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Freshman year you don't even get a choice, but its kind of cool to live with all freshman. After that you get some choice but the fraternities are still owned by albion which sucks.

Parking: Albion College has several lots for you to park in but you are rather restricted to the lot on your parking permit. They try to put in lots close to your dorms but sometimes they cannot fit you and you end up on their overflow lot by the Dow which is somewhat removed from the dorms. Parking permits around around $300. Campus Safety does patrol parking lots to see if the cars are without permits or in the wrong lot. They frequently issue tickets. In the past couple years, Albion College removed some parking spaces in the main areas of campus, either making them all handicap spots or no parking zones.

Academics: Great Professors, but Some Departments Slighted – Albion College has great professors in every department. The Psychology department is really great and every prof is willing to help you outside of class, with graduate school, and finding a job. They take a real interest in what you are doing. The History department also has great professors but it is smaller and there is only one professor for Hispanic history and one professor for Asian history. They also take an interest in the students and what they are doing with their life. The Anthropology department leaves much to be desired because there are only two professors, the rest are for Sociology. Curriculum wise, if you are in the social sciences, expect a lot of reading and several papers in every class. At the high levels of History and Anthropology, research papers take the place of exams. It isn't unheard of to have 10 books for one class alone, all of which you will read.

Campus Food: My first year was alright, but my second year was way better with an expected awesome third year. The thing is, you have to talk to the people working at the dining hall. Once I did and my friends and acquaintances soon followed, we saw major changes. More vegetarian options, and options in general. Sometimes they cook phenomenally as well. It's a dining hall, so yes there has been some yucky food, but they keep trying and actually take input, and even work closely to out student senate and other representatives and general students to get the word on what's good and what's not. most importantly , they have the BEST BREAKFASTS EVER!

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are some decent options that are open late. Mainly the Subway and a sweet Casquerellies, and technically although on campus there is the Eat Shop. all these places take your Albion 1 card, which is your I.D. A bit general, but has all the food you could want. If you have a car or a friend with one, there are also a ton or restaurants that take the card as well in Jackson and Marshall. Also, free movie tickets at the Marshal Theatre!!!!

Local Area: The town is small, but is integrated into the college. For this reason, we have wonderful places to just be casual at, whether it's the Subway or other restaurants, the nature center or park, or the gym and pool center. It really makes it feel like I'm living in a town, and not always my dorm. It's also cool because students can actually live in apartments right next to people from town, making it a more realistic living condition, even if you are in the dorms.

Students Often Come From

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Overall, Albion College is great for a number of reasons. The small campus makes it easy to make friends immediately and meet new people. While living in Albion can be boring at times, making the most of it is sometimes what will leave you with the most memories. There is a sense of community on Albion's campus that is hard to duplicate anywhere else. This isn't to say that everyone gets along, but there is a certain bond between all Albion students.

Albion's liberal arts education is something that also seems to be unique to the College. The professors are approachable, and their excitement for their courses is infectious. Even when you're taking a class that is not related to your major, you appreciate what you learn and are proud of what you've learned in looking back. Beneath the exterior sometimes, Albion is just a down-home friendly kind of place, and a lot of students seek comfort in that and learn to love where they are.
