Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing in Normal Hills, Alabama has its pros and cons. The upside about living off campus is that it is still a good commute from the the university and you are in a safe environment. The cons would be you get what you pay for and also the income of the community makes the high living apartments on the expensive side. You can still find affordable apartments within the $0-$500 price range you just won't have all the amenities such as upgraded kitchen appliances, but high price living ranges from $700-$1000.

Administration: they can be forgiving if there is a good reason. OTHERWISE THEY STICK TO THE BOOK.

Campus Quality: the love and devotion fron the staff is undaunted!

Campus Quality: the hands on attention and quality if teachers who actually care.

Campus Quality: the facilities here are poor. the best facilities on campus is the wellness center, the business building, and of course the agricultural and engineering buildings. there are A LOT of closed dorms and other buildings on the campus. because the campus is a historical landmark they can't tear down those closed buildings. the Academic Enhancement Center (Student-Athlete building) is combined with the ROTC building. both of those buildings look old. broken windows, and they use some of the rooms for storage.

Greek Life: my expectations are probably too high from watching Stomp The Yard and other step shows. but from what i've seen the greek life could be WAY better. you don't really see them around campus. there aren't a lot of step shows, the most greek activity they do is host and promote parties. on some Wednesday's nights i think, the AKA's would drive around the campus screaming out their cars, but other than that there isn't enough greek life on campus.

Diversity: Honestly i don't know how to grade this. it's an HBCU, so it's going to be predominantly black. I haven't seen Asians on campus before. There's a handful of hispanics and white people. we have foreign students, and most of them are on the soccer team.

Transportation: Transportation at A&M university is fairly ok. Although sometimes the buses come late and class professors are not happy when this happens. This happens when there is excessive amounts of student who get on the busses and their is no room.

Health & Safety: Its a pretty clean school, just has some things to clean up

Administration: Campus police are a little too strict, they are forgetting that we are young adults as well not children anymore.

Guys & Girls: Far more girls than guys on campus you have different type of beautiful woman from different states an country got a bit of everything here

Administration: Students are not allowed to have visitors of the opposite sex after midnight. This means a girl/boy cannot have their signifigant other over for the night. This would be okay but homosexual student can have theirs over because they are of the same sex. Also new changes in the rules are not made availible to everyone and if it is broken you are treated like a troublemaker even though all you do is follow the rules. And visitation in the dorms can be taken away when the dorm manager feels like it even if only one person does something wrong.

Local Area: There is a lot to do off and on campus. I feel the safety on campus could be better, but I honestly I feel it is the students enrolled who make it unsafe.

Campus Quality: what facilities? I haven't seen a school with so many closed down buildings in my life. the worst part about it is that they can't tear the buildings downs because the school is a national landmark. I came in as a freshman last year. they JUST BUILT a health and wellness center last year. my teacher told me the only reason we have a health and wellness center is cause Auburn paid for it. u can play video games in the game room, u can pay to go bowling, u can play basketball, volleyball, racquetball, workout in the weight room or work on ur cardio upstairs. they have a student center but when I walk past it they're barely any students in there. the library is ok after you tolerate the smell. the quad is where ppl hang out at mostly during the 1st semester(mainly freshman), probably so they can get to know each other to see who their friends will be for the year. idk, I couldn't take it at the quad cause so many ppl there drink and get high. not my scene. they have an academic enhancement center for athletes but its small and it's connected to the ROTC building. they just built a "park" (all they really did was build a walkway with benches around the pond, it doesn't look finished.) there's also talk of Auburn trying to buy this school. if they do, then this school will get a MAJOR upgrade

Weather: i'm from GA, and GA has bipolar weather. I didn't think that Alabama would too. it was hot as hell in December and cold as hell up to mid april. 2nd semester it rained a lot. it snowed twice. other than that the sun be out. hot as ever

Academics: it honestly depends on your major. my major is exercise science. my curriculum is super easy. for example, next year i'm taking swimming for beginners, swimming for intermediate, tennis, just to name a few. but if major has to deal with engineering, you will have to do A LOT of math, unless your a civil engineer. I only have one math class in my curriculum.

Off-Campus Housing: Huntsville is a far out city in my opinion. The few times I have been off campus, there really isn't many apartments around campus. Normal Hills is an on campus apartment area for upperclassman. The only down side of the apartments is that they are EXPENSIVE! Try asking the housing complex for any addition apartments off campus.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I received financial aid, when I submitted my documents after my scholarship was posted to my account. But since I'm on a scholarship issued by the university, I can't really expect to receive any refund.

Greek Life: The Greek Life at Alabama A&M University is usually exposed during the spring and on different weekends at the clubs. The frat and sorority houses are no longer available to the Greeks here. Why?, I couldn't tell you because I don't no why, but that is just the way it is.

Majors: There wasn't application process to declare my major. Jumped right into the courses. Easy!

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

The A&M experience is excellent! Students who have graduated from A&M often say that there is no place like "The Hill." Sure, students complain about the long financial aid lines, old buildings, and out-of-date resources, but when asked if they would do it all over again and still make A&M their first choice, many have said they would. A&M is truly a "home away from home." It's a great place for students to discover who they are and who they can become. Being a historically black college, A&M has so much history engraved in its roots. After attending A&M, students gain a greater appreciation for their heritage and for those who came before them. Also, out of all the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), A&M has one of the best food science programs. It is one of the only HBCU's that has an accredited program. Most of the students who graduate from A&M with a food science degree are employed and working for major companies like Coca-Cola.

A&M is a great school to attend. Lifelong friendships and connections are made on this campus. Students at A&M are more than classmates—they're family. They encourage and support each other throughout their academic journey.
