Academic Flexibility: One of the biggest reason I chose this school over others in the area was the flexibility. I didn't have to quit my corporate job or find a way to re-balance my schedule to fit going to classes. I do my work according to my availability, whether that is at 11 o'clock at night, or 6 in the morning.

Online Courses: Online courses are wonderful for those who are self motivated. If you don't need someone to babysit you, and remind you when your assignments are due, it's great. Especially nice for working adults and parents- it can be hard trying to find time in your day to go sit in a classroom (especially when you have children). Their online courses allow you to do your work when it's convenient for you.

Academic Experience: I am a business major, and happy that my courses are focused on exactly what I need, and not a bunch of stuff that I don't. They plan your course load two semesters in advance, so you are never have to worry what is coming up next semester or if there will be room in a required class. At the end of you're degree there is an 8 week internship program designed to give you work experience in your desired field and help place you with possible employers.

Campus Resources: Because this is a small school, it doesn't have the same on campus resources as some of the other nearby institutions. There is no athletic program, a small library, and limited campus activity. There is a computer center with more than ample access.

Academic Experience: The staff is friendly and helpful. They want to put you in a program that works for you. As a single mom, full time employee and small business owner, I was worried how I would fit going back to school into my hectic schedule. Their online courses make it easy to do my work when it's convenient for me. The best part is, if I need help, I don't have to feel like I'm alone. The school offers free tutoring to all of their students, both traditional and online. The campus is small, with a very limited library, but with Summit County Library just a few miles away, it's not a big deal.

Online Courses: Online courses at Akron Institute of Herzing University are a lot of work with reading, watching presentations, doing the discussion topics with responses, and the weekly assignments. It is very manageable because you can access everything 24 hours a day 7 days a week. There is always technical assistance if you are having trouble with your computer.

Student Body: The student body that makes up Akron Institute of Herzing University consists of people from all walks of life. It is a good mix of people that all have a lot to offer each other. I am a single mother that works part time then the person next to me is a young person right out of high school. We all are there for the same reason but we all come together collectively to make it through the programs.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Always Ask Questions – The education that I am receiving is worth it. I do not think the interest that I will acrue at the end of my education is accurate. The financial advisors always tell students to only take what they need to cover tuition. My financial status while in school is not very good. I need all the help that I can get. Accepting the excess funds from finacnial aid is helping me get through the hard times. I know that I should find alternative ways of making money, but with having a child and being a full- time student, it will be difficult. My main goal is to focus on school and to not let anything get on the way of graduating on time.

Campus Resources: the library is average and limited to resources only pertinent to their courses

Campus Resources: Printing on Campus Is Limited – Although there are many computers and labs there is limited printing allowed and limited places to print from

Campus Resources: DON't COME HERE IF YOU CAN HELP IT! The majority of the staff at this school is SO rude! The two registrars, the two financial aid women, and some of the instructors are completely nasty, and make you question WHY you would ever want to spend money to attend there. There are a few select people who genuinely care for, and invest in the students. The Librarian, the math teachers, the computer teacher, the Nursing program director, the nursing school admissions fella, and at least 3 of the nursing instructors. Unfortunately, if you are planning to attend, you must first be treated like a worthless piece of **** from the two registrars Mrs. Bright, and Mrs. Maxwell. Then you have to deal with Lillian and Maria in financial aid, who both take their sweet time to call you back (that is, if they even call you back at all) and take forever to process your financial aid. If you owe money to the school, this is about the ONLY time you'll have any contact with the financial aid office. Otherwise, you could call for 2 days straight and they may or may not get back in touch with you. The majority of the staff are highly unprofessional, rude, and lazy. I would never EVER go to this school if I had enough funding left to complete my degree elsewhere. The school costs so much money and then they don't even have a decent lounge, a public phone, or any interest in the students. The one Nursing instructor, Ms. Austin, is so sarcastic, you might as well forget trying to ask her anything. You WILL get your head bit off. I think there must be some consensus that the students are ghetto trash, and that's why the staff are so rude. Even the IT support in a different state are rude. Ridiculous.

Campus Resources: This school has plenty of computers for students to use, but only a small handful of printers, and students are limited on how many pages and what type of pages they are allowed to print out. Don't expect to ever use a phone in the school that you don't bring with you or borrow from a peer. The school refuses to let students use the school phone, even in the instance of an emergency. The librarian is super friendly, and the WiFi works, but is password protected. The nursing lab has some nice equipment, and some that looks like it is from the stone age.

Campus Resources: Only want your money – This school is a scam - they say they offer accredited courses, but the courses don't transfer to real universities, like Akron U. They are expensive and you end up in debt and unable to get a job. The education here is a joke as are most of the instructors. I am in debt and have to start over if I want a beneficial education. The ONLY reason to go here is the nursing program, but it is not nationally credited. Don't waste your time or your money. They have a high graduation rate because the education is a joke. One instructor in particular always remarks that the standards had to be lowered so everyone could pass. How does the education department let this scam exist??

Campus Resources: Open and Honest – The instructors care about every student individually. You are always treated with respect. The library has a wonderful plethora of resources. The classes are not too big. Faculty is always there to help.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: Nursing Student – I like Akron Institute because they push you to achieve excellence, there's always someone to help in whatever areas you may not be strong in, and the instructors really care about the students.

5 College Senior

Campus Resources: Network Well Maintained – The network is well maintained and printing is becoming available in each classroom after upgrades are done.

5 College Senior

Academic Experience: Updated Learning Materials – There are new classrooms with updated computers for the IT students.

5 College Senior

Campus Resources: Not Too Big – The size of the school small than the local colleged. This makes it easy for one on one interaction with instructors.

2 College Sophomore

Student Body: Diverse but Sad – Sadly, because most students are non-traditional there are a lot of unintelligent unmotivated individuals who are in classes. There are absolutely students who are excited to work and learn, but there are others with no desire and they can sometimes cause distractions. Most teachers handle those students as though they deserve the education they are paying for, and also deserve the grade they've worked for. If you seek out help and show enthusiasm, you'll go far. Not everyone has this mindset.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Involved and Interested – The teachers may be busy, but it's because they care about each student individually and offer most if not all of their free time to helping you learn; all you have to do is ask.

4 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: Many Options – The Financial aid representatives are knowledgable and very helpful. They make you aware of all your options and deadlines without making the whole process overwhelming. They are readily available and open to walk in's as well as apointments. While the tuition is more expensive than a regualr college per semester, the class load is larger and you'll finish sooner equating to a better deal overall.

1 College Senior

Online Courses: The online courses were a waste of money and time. I learned nothing, and felt that the school was simply trying to steal more of my money. Like its not bad enough that I qualify for the full Grant amount and my expected contribution is $0, but they make me take out 10K in student loans for pointless classes I dont need. Though I suppose thats like any other university, Akron Institute thou is known for stealing from you left and right and this is just another nail in your financial coffin.

1 College Senior

Overall Experience: STAY AWAY!!!! This school is the biggest SHAM out to steal your money! Our class started out with 48 Nursing student, by the time we finish our 2nd clinical class, we were down to 9. STAY AWAY! Even if you think you're smart and capable, these teachers are the rudest, most unprofessional people who will fail students arbitrarily if they don't like you. I once had a teacher say in the middle of OPEN lab with about 20 people in it, that I needed to & "shut-up and get medicated" because I didn't hear someone clear across the room talk to me, she said it in front of everyone and then proceeded to fail me because I "seemed highly anxious". STAY AWAY! These For-profit schools are a sham!! I WILL be filing a complaint with the Ohio board of education! All of this, plus, every single thing you learn, you teach yourself, my teacher who failed me, actually said that clinicals are not the time to learn anything new, you're there to show what you know, and my teachers in class give pointless group assignments and don't lecture! WASTE OF TIME!!!

Academic Flexibility: there is little to no flexibility in class scheduling; the register is rude to all students and asking questions seems to be a major inconvenience to both people working in this area.

1 College Junior

Campus Resources: THE GOOD AND THE BAD – The good: small school, easy to navigate, small personal classes. Some of the business instructors are great, genuinely care about student success and I learned a lot in their classes. Even though there was a lot of work, they made learning fun. Free popcorn on Thursdays. The library: The library staff is the best. The librarian is always so helpful. They need more computers hooked to printers.
The bad: the rude behavior of the Dean towards students, some of te population that attends this school are not serious about an education, some of the instructors have NO clue what they are doing and I believe that some instructors actually hate the students and teaching. My accounting class changed the course schedule five times during a session! The instructor of critical thinking seems to pick on certain students in the class: I was glad I was not one of them because the instructor was cruel and hateful.
Good and bad: One of the instructors justs gives you the answers which is good if you want an easy A, but bad if you want to learn the materials.
Summary: If you want to have a chance at getting a decent job, go to a university with a better reputation, like Akron U. or Kent State. They do not cost more tha this school.
