4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel fairly safe around campus. We can always contact public safety if we feel we are in danger.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. Campus security is great and very friendly

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Campus security does a great job of making all of the girls on campus feel safe. There are special call buttons all over campus that way if we feel unsafe walking across campus one of the officers will come and walk us across campus.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Campus is pretty safe. It's small, so you don't have to spend a lot of time outside where things could get sketchy. Campus security service is really friendly, easy to contact, and genuinely interested in the safety and well-being of the students.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: I definitely feel safe at Agnes Scott and I know they will help in anyway they can if something happens off campus.

Health and safety services are amazing at Agnes. The entire campus is secure, and almost every student feels safe enough to walk outside at night. The campus police are extremely friendly, and are a constant presence around campus. There are get-togethers called "Meet the HEAT," where Agnes students can speak with Public Safety and learn self-defense techniques. The campus itself is small and safe. The safest places are the dorms as well as the library. However, the Decatur area isn't safe in some places, such as around MARTA and some of the neighborhoods. These areas are typically safest during the day or when students travel in large groups.

The wellness center is located on campus, and is easily accessible to everyone. The wellness center offers a wide variety of services that include counseling, gynecology appointments, chiropractic care, and access to a nutritionist. Appointments are almost always available, but students must conform to the wellness center as opposed to the wellness center conforming to students. This system of appointments can be tricky and frustrating at times. If you remember to make an appointment as soon as possible, you will be seen as soon as possible. The wellness center staff seeks to have a comfortable relationship with students, and it's always willing to listen or point students in the right direction in the event of an emergency. Both Public Safety and the wellness center have phone numbers in the event of a medical or psychological emergency.

Did You Know?
  • Agnes's Public Safety officers are certified through Georgia's Peace Officers Standards and Training Council. This certification gives Agnes's Public Safety officers jurisdiction county- and state-wide.
  • Need a jump? Lock your keys in the car? Are you a Scottie? Public Safety can help! The Department of Public Safety offers jump starts and door unlocking services to all Scotties.
  • Any Scottie who finds herself stranded off campus can call a cab and have the cab bring her to the Department of Public Safety. Public Safety pays the fare, but there's a catch: Students should repay the fare within two weeks. Make sure you pay up. The money you repay keeps the fund alive, so Public Safety can keep helping Scotties in need!
