Off-Campus Dining: Off-campus dining is great; the food is delicious and everything is close enough to walk to. However, it can get a bit pricy. There is a good bit of variety, though, and my favorite restaurant has a student discount.

Diversity: Although we are an all girls school, Agnes has a decent sized lesbian and transgender population. The student body represents over 100 countries and we host refugee girls from other countries for lunch everyday. We have clubs for virtually every religion. People tend to be more libertarian here, but there are plenty of more conservative students here as well.

Off-Campus Dining: Agnes Scott is within walking distance of down-town Decatur which has all sorts of different food shops with a variety of price ranges and types of food. The atmosphere is very friendly everywhere you go and virtually every restaurant has an outdoor patio with music.

Party Scene: There are always fun things to do in Decatur. Agnes is located in downtown Decatur, and there are lots of cool restaurants bars and downtown activities to partake in. Decatur is also ten minutes away from Atlanta and there are always many concerts, parties, and cool social events going on there.

Academics: I give Agnes an A+ on academics offered because all professors are skilled and qualified enough with the knowledge required for the courses offered. And they are also personable enough to teach and respond to students with the information necessary for that course making the work and work load more durable. Agnes also has many study abroad options for students who wish to broaden there educational scope in other countries.

Local Area: Decatur is a little square town. Some shoppes are walking distance. The train station is also a walking distance from campus so that's great for transportation. But it's doesn't have your topical city feeling. It's a little quite. It more laid back than most other campus atmospheres.

Health & Safety: The honor code really works and helps the safety of the school. I can leave my belongings anywhere and expect to find it where I left it with out anything missing. I really like this part about my school. I don't think other students from a different college can say that about their schools.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: They provide enough grant scholarship other than they are average with financial aid package

Diversity: There are people here from E V E R Y W H E R E. The diversity is basically tangible.

Health & Safety: Agnes Scott is super safe. There is no reason to walk around intimidated on campus. The school community is too small for petty crime to take place.

4 College Senior

Drug Safety: Although Agnes is a wet campus we take very serious the danger and possible risk of using alcohol and other drugs. There are frequently open seminars to address this topic as well as available resources to properly address and questions, comments and concerns.

4 College Senior

Diversity: Recently Agnes has seen a real change in the diversity of the school (for the better). There are lots of students from various cultural and geographic backgrounds and there's always various events and activities to inform and include everyone.

5 College Senior

Scholarships: Because of scholarships provided at Agnes I was able to attend the college. Additionally, my scholarship included monies that allowed me to travel abroad twice - to Spain and the Chile. Both experiences were wonderful. Also, for those who are unsure where to look and what to do about money, there are resources available that admin and faculty are always eager to help find and apply for.

Party Scene: Agnes Scott has a few great parties a year. Red Light Green Light in September is always Agnes Scott's biggest party of the year! But typically you have to go to other college's to find parties.

2 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: There are no guys at Agnes Scott. You have to go to events at other campuses to meet them.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Agnes Scott is a women's college; therefore, drama is inevitable. In general, most people are rather friendly. Appearance and interests are very diverse among the community. There is a crowd for anyone's preferences.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Everyone's financial aid is very different. Agnes tries to help each student as much as possible. I would suggest checking on your loans and scholarships regularly to make sure everything is going smoothly.

Campus Housing: Freshmen dorms are exceptional in size compared to most colleges and they have air conditioning. Most of the Upperclassmen dorms do not have air conditioning. Rebekah, Main and Inman are most Upperclassmen's first choice and if Hopkins had a better location, it would be more popular. Everything is fairly close proximity, unless you have to trek to the Observatory. The social atmospheres depends on your hall mates. The housing lottery could be handled better. I feel like the names in each drawing are not mixed up enough to give everyone a fair chance.

3 College Senior

Majors: Although I think that the majors available to Agnes Scott students have little variety, the ones offered are very strong. As an international relations major I was able to chose a part of the world to focus on. Focusing on Latin America encouraged me to relate the Spanish classes I have with the international relations and political sciences courses. I'm beyond satisfied with the quality of education I have received. I have had professors who are very dedicated to the classroom and proficient in their respected areas of study. Further more they encouraged me to travel and study abroad which has really enhanced my overall college experience.

Transportation: MARTA which is the pubIic transportation system is great. The train is only $2.50 and literally takes you anywhere you need to go. The train comes every fifteen minutes so if you miss one it's not a big deal.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The school encourages everyone to live on campus for all four years. Almost no one commutes.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking is easy to find, however the student parking deck is a little far from the dorms.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Nightlife at Agnes Scott doesn't truly exist, BUT we are located almost 10-15 minutes away from downtown Atlanta. There are plenty of clubs that you can go to on the weekends, not to mention GA State, GA Tech, and the AUC are very accessible. If you don't want to party, there are hookah spots and lounges to relax at when partying gets boring. I enjoy going downtown just to view the city and grabbing dinner. Don't let the minimal nightlife at Agnes Scott deter you from coming. There are plenty of options since this school is less than 20 minutes away from downtown.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: Probably more lenient than most all-girl schools. Usual rules apply, like underage drug use is prohibited of course. Cheating is a big deal; Agnes has a lot of trust for their students under the Honor Code, so integrity and honesty are important.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: Decatur is very family-friendly. Dog-walkers and families are seen walking around campus all the time. Suburban area filled with many dining places. If you're looking for clubs and parties, it's better to travel to the city. Festivals take place yearly.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Agnes Scott is a liberal arts school with a small professor-to-student ratio, with rigorous academics and a thriving club life. The professors are all passionate about the subjects they teach and have had some experience in their fields, too. For the most part, they bring their all to each class. Not only are the professors intelligent and passionate, but they are also personable. There are few professors who are difficult to speak with about problems, anxieties, or comments about a class. The same can be said for all of the faculty and staff at Agnes. Everyone is committed to allowing students to learn and grow. The small community helps everything be personal.

Agnes helps to shape students into well-rounded individuals with the skills to enter a career. In order to get the full Agnes experience, it's important to put yourself out there. Many skills can't be acquired without reaching out to the College's offices or clubs/organizations. However, the most important thing any prospective student should remember about Agnes when making her big decision is that Agnes is a small, private, women's liberal arts college. All of these factors are important to consider because they will determine the experience you have. All in all, the Agnes experience is a wonderful one, but students should be aware that this experience is only obtained if they actively engage in the community around them.
