3 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: Cant move ahead at own pace and each week has multiple deadlines. So there are constraints.

4 College Sophomore

Online Courses: Does work rather smoothly. I have no quarrel with the layout of online excluding not being able to wrk at least a week ahead. Some weeks i have more time than others and this would help.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Plenty of attention if you have an attentive instructor. Online is a huge plus for my demographic.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I enjoy the school. My personal experience has been with some teachers that they have vague expectations and dated lesson plans. Still if you have the ability to be creative and read between the lines you can do well. More than self paced it is self lead because you are in total control basically teaching yourself. Allot the time and you get great skills out of the courses.

Academic Flexibility: Professors are knowledgable, advisors and staff treat you like an individual and care for your academic progress. Classwork is heavy but online classes mean I can manage work around my personal life. Professors are always available for any questions, comments, in-progress critiques and give very helpful and in-depth advice.

4 College Freshman

Online Courses: Online class set-up is easy to navigate, and I like the fact that I can do the work on my own time and I don't have to commute to a campus.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Professors are approachable and experts in their fields so they can give in depth feedback and critiques. Class sizes are modest which makes it easier to receive one on one attention. Grading is strict but fair, but I think that pushes you to broaden your horizons and explore what you're really capable of.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I feel like I will have a lot of luck connecting with prospective employers through this school, though its only my first semester I have seen a lot of success stories from many alumni.

4 College Freshman

Academic Experience: Lots of work involved, but very rewarding in the end because I know with the guidance i received I produced the best work I could.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Classes are tough, but much more informative than most other classes I've taken. Professors take time out to help students individually and genuinely care about their success.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: You have the opportunity to network and create friends that will last you a lifetime as long as you work hard and stay determined. Don't get caught up in the city life because it can be distracting at times.

4 College Student

Academic Flexibility: As an online student you will find that you struggle with time management especially if you work and have a family to care for. All assignments for each class begin on Mondays and are due by 11:59 PM Sunday night, all times for the school are PST so if you live on the east coast you have until 3AM EST to submit all assignments, exercises, and post in all required discussion boards. That is the limit of the flexibility of the online classes.

Online Courses: Being an online student is very difficult but also very rewarding. Make sure you have a good computer with a solid internet connection. The class sites have limited mobile availability. Instructors will typically take the part of being your art director to give you the experience of working in a real world art related job, upholding real world standards in what is expected of you. Registration was easy and the admission advisors are great at guiding you through the on boarding process.

Career Services: This school is very network heavy. You network with instructors and students every semester, where after graduation those instructors and students become competitive working professions and instructors can easily become co-workers or working on a project that you are lead on.

4 College Student

Overall Experience: The courses and professors I have had are all pretty much the same. They are all available from Monday through Friday during regular business hours, with that said there will be some instructors that will not grade your assignments in a timely manner, making it difficult to apply their critiques to the next assignment, in that you will find that you make the same mistake two weeks in a row due to that lack of an instructors critique. The classes consist of 15 modules that span the entire semester (15 weeks of learning.) Those modules are made of up of pages for reading, which is your major content of the class, videos, which show you how your assignments should come out, and applies the techniques from the reading in "real time." On top of reading and videos there are discussion boards which make up the biggest part of the classroom feeling where students can comment and critique each other's drawings and assignments. Discussion boards are usually a mandatory part of every class where discussion boards make up 60% of your overall grade. On grading don't expect to bring home A's in your first few semesters, on the first day you are given a notice of grading which informs that you can expect to get C's in your first few semesters and that a C is a perfectly acceptable grade so be ready for that.

5 College Student

Overall Experience: I am an Illustration major with an emphasis on Comics. While I am still new at this school, I can say that your biggest support system are your instructors so it pays to be very professional with them and network at any given opportunity.

5 College Student

Academic Experience: The Illustration program is amazing. You doing have to have too much knowledge about illustration or how to draw, you are taught the basics from start to finish. The work load of the classes can be very heavy, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to complete all of your assignments; on the topic of assignments; as an online student you are met with rather strict deadline where all assignments and exercises are due every Sunday by Midnight.

5 College Student

Overall Experience: The Academy of Art University consist of instructors that work in your fields of profession while also teaching at this college; with that said, you will find that grading is heavily based on what will be expected of you after graduation. This school is great with communication and community among the instructors and students. You will definitely succeed at this school if you can stay motivated and aren't afraid to ask questions every day.
