4 College Junior

Campus Resources: There are many clubs, organization, career groups, and societies that students can join.

College Junior

Online Courses: I have not taken an online course at YHC.

Student Body: Our athletic department is only somewhat supported by the student body. The majority is supported by the community. I wish our student body was more supportive towards our teams. Other than that, students seem to be extremely into greek life, something which is very unique to the school.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I understand private schools are expensive, but I feel as though student's do not get what they pay for. The dorms are far too expensive to live in. The school needs to offer an option for off campus living for any student. The dining hall and food are mediocre. Tuition seems to rise every year which isn't fair to any student. They need to have the tuition locked in at the same price for each class that comes in.

Academic Experience: Being a biology major at Young Harris College has it's shares of positives and negatives. To start off with positives, the professors there are genuinely passionate about the area in which they teach. The school does a fantastic job in the hiring process because of how helpful and knowledgeable the professors at this school are (almost all majors). The labs are excellent, instructional wise. The professors pay close attention to every person and make sure students understand what they are doing. The lectures are never bad. Professors know what they teaching and every question is always answered. The negative areas in which the biology department could use improvement in are the labs and equipment. The equipment is badly outdated and should be upgraded! Some classes only have stools to sit in which get extremely uncomfortable during 90 minute lectures. Overall, the knowledge gained from being a biology major at YHC will assist students well in DATs, MCATS or any other post graduate exams.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: The professors are easily accessible and know their area very well. The curriculum is pretty average. Class registration is one of the easiest in comparison to other colleges my friends attend. The workload is expected. Depending on your class and professor, you may have a lot of assignments or few. There are tutors for every subject and are easily attainable. There are various places to study in solitude or study in groups.

Career Services: Young Harris College does not offer post-grad degrees but they do offer the opportunity for graduates to work as college representatives.

YHC is a vibrant and unique but small community. The faculty and staff work together to help the students the best that they can. Teachers look out for the students and know them by name, and they ususally go the extra mile. Academic advisers also help students out and take the time to really find the best courses. The teachers and students feel like a family.

The student body itself is mostly friendly and positive. Many of them are excellent students, and the marjority of them are involved in extracurriculars, such as sororities and fraternities, clubs, religious life, and other organizations. These organizations host events like dances, casino night, live concerts, and many more. The events make the atmosphere more interesting and fun. Indviduals meet others with similar and different viewpoints and often find friends in both. Students often find life-long friends. Together, the teachers and students make the school feel like home.
