Academics: The most popular program here is Nursing. We are wll know for our nursing program here at WSSU. I have a friend that is in the program and she says that it is a challenge but gives here the knowledge and hands on experience she needs.

Off-Campus Dining: The one place off campus I like to eat at is Forsyth Seafood. They give student discounts and have the best fish in town! The price is reasonable and fulfilling.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The financial aid processe here is slow. They wait til the last minute to give you your awarded amount and if you need extra money they are really not much help. I hope next semester they do better because I can't be waiting til the last minute to know how much funds I have.

Health & Safety: This sememster for some reason there has been a lot of crime on campus like; students getting hit, assaults, rapes, sex videos, unknown people on campus, etc. I don't feel totally unsafe but it has made me be more aware of my surroundings and cautious when I am walking at night. Other than I feel safe and I know if I feel like I am not safe then I can call the campus police to escort me to class and such.

Off-Campus Housing: I really don't know much about this area because before I came to college I was living with my mom. But for what I know there are plenty of apartments and housing in the area that have decent pricing. It just all depends on what you are looking for.

Local Atmosphere: There are many things to do off campus like going downtown to listen to music or just walk around. There is a mall and different shopping areas that are easy to get too. Also there are clubs, movies and reasturants that are great to get out and enjoy.

Greek Life: I love Greek life here at WSSU because it gives everyone a chance to be in a sister/ brotherhood while in school that will last a lifetime. It also gets you connectionsto jobs once you graduate and trying to look for your career. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that the DELTA'S

Campus Strictness: I agree with all the policies put in place at my school because I understand that is for our safety as students. I think the thing that they are most strict about is alcohol on campus because they do not want is drinking and driving or no underage drinking. Most of the students here are ages 18-20 so they are not legal to drink alcohol yet. I understand totally the strictness of this policy.

Overall Experience: I love HBCU I wouldn't trade WSSU for anything! My experience here so far has been excellent and fun. I have enjoyed some the courses I have taken like my Promoting Social Justice class where we donated 500 books to an elementary school. I have meet new people that can help me network once I get my degree and even new friends that are cool to hang around. I love my RAMS and I would recommend that if you are planning to go to college WSSU is the place to be.

Nightlife: The nightlife at WSSU is off the chain!!! We have parties at different clubs for everything like fraternity/soroity probate afterparties, homecoming, battle of the bands afterparties. You name it we have parties for it. There are even smaller parties on campus that we have like pajama jams and such. They even provide shuttle service to some of these off campus parties which I think is cool especially for the students who don't have cars.

Parking: The price for the parking sticker on campus is $107 and I believe that is a great price. The reason being is because it is valid until after summer semester and it is a one time thing. The only problem is that the parking lots are somewhat far away from the dorms. Other than that everything is great!

Off-Campus Dining: We have a lot of places that you can go eat at. We have almost all of the popular food chains and new restaurants that gains our interest. Some of the food is good and the some of the restaurants are neat and clean.

Diversity: I would prefer to see more races on campus but WSSU is a historically black school so that is understandable. I do know that people are able to express who they are and not feel ashamed about it. We are who we are and WSSU lets us express it freely.

4 College Junior

Transportation: We have shuttle buses that will get us to where we need to go. It's reliable and convenient where ever needed.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Not really sure as to I dont go to games. I see the news talk at WSSU a lot and how it's a big deal pertaining to sports and different activities going on at the time.

Local Atmosphere: Winston Salem is a nice place to live, but not for me. I am from the country and Im not really used to having to commute using the highways for everything. I know not to be on the highways between 4 and 6, due to a lot of traffic. The scenery in WSSU is nice and beautiful at night. The parts that I have been to are quiet and relaxing.

5 College Junior

Computers: The computers at WSSU are great. Everytime I go to the library, there is always a open computer for me. If there is a reason why the internet would be down, we will be notified via email, which I think is great. The network speed is amazing, I've never had a bad experience with WSSU internet connection.

3 College Junior

Nightlife: Im not really sure because I dont live on campus. There could be parties going on, but I dont have the time to go due to working. Im pretty sure the parties, etc. are a great place to enjoy after class.

3 College Junior

Weather: This semester I felt like we were out of class more than any other semester. The snow and sleet was a big concern for us. When we have bad weather, it causes us to miss class and that means that we have to try and get as much done within that time frame.

4 College Junior

Academics: Within my major, I like how on every Wednesday, we are to dress up in business attire. I feel like it gets us ready for the real world. The staff and teachers that I have come in contact with are very helpful and understanding. They let us know that the things that we are doing wrong will not be accepted in the workplace. In the end, all of the knowledge that we take in will be rewarding.
