College Freshman

Greek Life: There is no Greek life at Williams. The college banned fraternities in the 60's. However, the sports teams, particularly popular men's sports teams like football, baseball, and hockey have filled the social void that the fraternities left.

Greek Life: No greek life. That's one of the reasons I applied here.

Greek Life: No Greek Scene – Plain and Simple: Williams does not have a Greek scene. It probably would further separate the campus if it did exist though.

Niche User

Greek Life: If we had fraternities, the school would become even more boring and socially handicapped than it already is.

Williams has no Greek life, and most students feel good about this. They find that a fraternity is not the kind of structure they need in order to have a fulfilling college life. Few Williams students say they have a desire to bond with other students under the authority of a fraternity.

The rumors about a secret fraternity remain a mystery. The idea that sports teams substitute fraternities on campus is also highly debatable, but somewhat confirmed by the fact that teams are often able to live in the same dorm.
