Campus Housing: The dorms are literally beside the building where classes are held. If you wake up with ten minutes to get to class then no problem. Some of the dorms can be very small and you are sharing a bathroom with three other people so make sure to set rules down from the beginning of the year. Some of the buildings are ancient and so there may be a few pipes running through the dorms, or old air conditioners to go with that. If you choose a building like Davidson or Finley then you should have the best dorm experience since these are the newest additions.

Off-Campus Housing: William Peace University offers off-campus living to second-year and above students. These are apartments located at Wolf Creek which is about 7 miles from campus. There is a shuttle bus running back and forth from town, school, and to the apartments throughout the school year. Only downside is it could cost gas money if you use your own vehicle and you still have to purchase a meal plan even though you're living off campus. The apartment rooms have their own bathroom and you get a kitchen. You would room with three other people and they often let you choose who you live with.

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus. During first-year I did see a lot of alcohol and drugs, but these students are all weaved out by the time second semester rolls around if not within the first few weeks. Campus is small and is always monitored so there isn't much suspicious behavior at all unless by the students. Each door has a key scanner mechanism, and you can only get into the doors if you have your pacer card for the scanner to read.

Joyner House is located on the west side of campus and the nurse is such a great lady. There are annual-free STD screenings offered and the environment of the house is very at-home. Of course, it should be since it was originally an old brick home not affiliated with the university. It has a tiled porch with swing and is very welcoming.

Greek Life: Our sororities are only academic and service oriented. There is also no separate housing for these students. WPU offers ODK, Phi Beta Lambda, Alpha Chi, Beta Beta Beta, Psi Chi, Sigma Delta Mu, Sigma Delta Pi, and Sigma Tau Delta. I hear talk they will also be adding new ones next year for pre-law students.

Guys & Girls: More girls than guys on campus. A lot of the guys come here for sports since WPU opened it's doors to male students only three years ago. The style is a bit preppy. The school doesn't like you coming to class in pajamas because they want to ensure a professional environment.

Social life is weak because it is simply a small school. There are lots of opportunities to get involved with clubs and organizations on campus that hold game nights or activities of sorts. Some of the clubs deal with political and religious debate, but you don't have to join those if you don't like that sort of thing. I think it is always interesting to hear another side to an argument. It seems people are mostly accepting of others as long as you are clean, smiling, and involved. Definitely need to have some type of involvement on campus otherwise you will seclude yourself.

Campus Strictness: The office of Public Safety is staffed with some of the best people on campus! They make you feel safe and are available 24 hours to let you in somewhere if you've forgotten your keys. Student Resident Assistants occupy room on each hall and conduct regular hall programs, and the occasional room check. This is to ensure all safety standards are being met in the dorms: No loose wiring, possible threatening health conditions, and of course to make sure no violations to the university rules are taking place. There is a very helpful comedy skit performed during Pacer Camp by the RA's informing students about the university rules and regulations.

Off-Campus Dining: If you have a car then you are set! NC State is only 5 miles away and they have a strip mall of food places to choose from. Gumby's pizza joint gives student discounts and large pizza for $4 bucks. If you don't feel like getting off campus the university offers 'city bucks' that you can use in participating restaurants close by. We have a Donato's Pizza, Peace China, which are located across the street. City bucks also work for Which Wich sandwich joint which is in Cameron Village, about 5 miles from the school.

Campus is located in the heart of downtown Raleigh and so there is literally loads of places to explore including, but not limited to, vegan cuisine, sushi, pubs with live music, Belgian wafels at the benelux cafe (my favorite), and Nourish Raleigh which is a fitness camp and smoothie joint rolled into one. So much to choose from!

Overall Experience: The professors know your name. They work with you and are available most of the time. Lots of corruption at this school within the alumni and directory boards. Many professors have been asked to resign and are taking buy-outs. It seems many of the professors who are leaving are taking other jobs at rival schools. Yikes!

Overall Experience: I am currently enrolled in a work-study position over the summer and they provide housing compensation for my work. It has been a great experience so far becoming familiar with the professional atmosphere on campus. Career services is really awesome. You can sign-on for the newsletter and get weekly updated work positions from locals. For example, lots of baby sitting jobs pop up and there is a mall very close by so there are lots of job opportunities. The school rating for jobs within one year of graduation is high as well.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I received some financial aid at my school. The process was cumbersome. I did not apply for many scholarships because I though that my academics were enough to get me the scholarships needed, boy was I ever wrong. I did acquire loans to attend.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: My major is business and I think that the school has great status within the business community. My school has a reputation for placing students in the business world and it is the main reason that I chose to attend.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Curriculum is awesome, the workload is sufficient, especially since I am an athlete. The study areas are adequate.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The dining hall is sufficient. The food choices leave a lot to be desired. Many of the students spend a lot of money buying groceries (for which we have very little space to store things) and getting quick foods after hours. At a small school, there aren't many options; you have to deal with what you have and think of the quality education that you are acquiring.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: My School is very diverse. We have folks of all colors, sizes, ethnicities, and all backgrounds. We mingle and get along very well. Occasionally, we have rallies on campus to discuss specific topics and there is great student participation.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Raleigh is a very nice town. It has many things to see and do, and many different types of cuisine. I've not had a bad experience in Raleigh thus far. It appears to be a safe place.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: There isn't much of a Greek life at my school. Greek organizations are very limited.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: We have a few places, but they cater more to the immediate population, the towns people.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Being enrolled in a small school does not lend itself to much of a social life, but academically it is tops.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: Small schools do not have much in so far as campus life. Education is first and foremost

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: My school is a small school and therefore a concentration on education. The small size lends itself to a personable education for which I like. A smaller class to teacher ratio is great because you have access to the teacher if you have an issue.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Close to classes and great social atmosphere.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: My college is a small college and there are few choices.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I wish that the school had better facilities. I guess in do time.

1 College Freshman

Diversity: There be a cracker up in hea but he left

5 College Freshman

Transportation: I love the transportation here at JCC....I found a condom in the student shuttle that would help me with my genetic disorder, it was already used a couple times but it will work.
