Drug Safety: The common drugs are just around every corner. If you want hard core drugs i'm sure they can be found in the town square where all the homeless people are.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Very few students take part in this. Public safety does a good job on enforcing policies though

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Only a handful of student use pot as a recreational drug, but alcohol is not a drug I do not know why it is listed as such, but there are parties but again only a hand full of people actually go.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I am pretty sure everybody does drugs

1 Recent Alumnus

Drug Safety: Drug Scene – there is much crime near campus as it is located near a low-income development. There are constant shootings- very insafe.

There are plenty of drugs on the Wilkes campus. That is, in the pharmacy labs. Recently in a series of drug busts, Wilkes-Barre police removed a lot of drug dealers from the streets. Good news. However, the scene continues to be prevalent in the area. A look at the police blotter in every day's paper will show at least one person on a drug charge, no matter how small. However, word of drugs being used on campus is rarely heard. This doesn't mean that it does not exist, as several students report knowing people who smoke marijuana. Some students even swear that some professors do. But, it seems as though drug activity is
kept very hush-hush. If it is happening, people are selective in who they tell, and those who are told are good at keeping quiet.

It's very rare that a Wilkes student-on or off campus-is caught using or caught with paraphernalia. One event does come to mind-many years ago a student had a small amount of pot mailed to her in the Wilkes mailroom. Dumb move. That was probably the biggest story. However, for students who want it, whatever their "it" is, it is sure to be found off campus. But, great caution should be taken. Remember: busts galore.
