The Wilkes student handbook outlines much of the disciplinary process. There are ramifications for everything from being loud in your dorm to cheating to selling drugs. However, if there is one thing Wilkes is, it's fair. There are several different judicial boards for campus disciplinary action, which allow the students who may be in trouble a chance to be heard. There are fines for damage to residence halls, and Wilkes goes right along with state law for drugs and alcohol. There are various fines and penalties for underage alcohol purchase or consumption. However, Wilkes does allow those of age to posses alcohol in their dorms-but they will keep a close eye on you since living quarters are shared with minors. There are also limitations placed on the amount of alcohol you can have in your dorm room. All drugs found-and rooms can be searched if there is reason-will be turned in to local police. Parents could be notified; the adjudicating board will decide. Alcohol offenses, if there are two within a year,
will be reported to parents. Also, if someone is so intoxicated they need emergency medical care, parents will be notified. Living off campus does not totally remove you from campus code enforcement; campus disciplinary action can still be taken. Especially in regard to underage drinking. Despite all of the rules, it seems to be that if you mess up once,
unless it is something pretty bad, you will be forgiven. Wilkes seems pretty good about letting college students make those college-student mistakes.
