1 College Sophomore

Weather: Winter is freezing and miserable for 6 months out of the year. The summer is hot and humid. Autumn is beautiful, but spring is almost nonexistent.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Because the campus is small, we don't need campus shuttles. Public transportation is close by and easy to use -- the cost is covered in your tuition.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: Westminster doesn't have greek life. Sometimes various business-related fraternities will try to recruit people on campus, but if it's a party you want, then head up to the U.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing can be expensive if you try to find something close. The farther away you get from campus, the more affordable things become (but then you have the downside of a long commute). Parking is almost always ridiculous, no matter where you live. The school isn't very helpful in finding things that aren't college owned. If you want an off-campus, college-owned house, however, you have to have all of your roommates together and a down payment before you even sign up for the lottery.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Westminster has a lot of security measure, from emergency alarms around campus to on-call campus patrol. Because Westminster is so small, it's easy to feel safe because you know/recognize everyone and security is just a text/phone call away (or a yell, if you're really desperate.)

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: The dining off campus is diverse and interesting, but pretty expensive. Some of the students' favorite places are Salt Lake Pasta and Pizza, Estes Pizza, The local Olive Garden, Sugar House coffee, and basically anything down 2100 S.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Westminster highly values diversity, and put a lot of money into its diversity programs. There are many different clubs and activities for various cultural, ethinic, religious, political, sexual oriented, etc groups. There is a niche for (almost) everyone.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The small class sizes are wonderful -- you get to make friends with your classmates, get to know your teacher, and receive personal attention that you never would at a big university. Difficulty levels depend on the professor. Some are really tough, and some just want you to get a good learning experience -- the grade doesn't really matter to them. In fact, there's been a lot of talk about implementing an entirely new grading system: one that relies on teacher reviews, and not letter grades.

Students love to hang out and study in the commons when the weather is nice, but during the colder months, you;'ll find them in the Library, their various common rooms, Shaw (the cafeteria) or down the street at Sugar House coffee.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: There are plenty of rules to follow, but unless someone has gone really wild, you don't generally hear about any disciplinary action.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: The Westminster Confessions page is constantly filled with secret information about things that happened at the most recent party. The key is to have connections so you know where to go.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Westminster has several housing options, though a majority of students choose to live off campus. Freshman and sophomores are required to live on campus in traditional dorm rooms or apartment-style dorms on the village green (it's actually a really pretty location). Upperclassmen can choose to live in college own housing off campus at Westminster On the Draw, an apartment building with dorm-style apartments and awful parking, or in a college owned house, usually within a block of campus. The buildings are well well-kept and nice -- about your average housing experience. The biggest downside is the expense. As a private college, Westminster's housing costs are sky-high.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: They just put a limit on printing. You have like twenty something dollars limit and you have to pay after that. Wireless is not that fast and they do wireless maintenance middle of the week, which causes a lot of problems.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: I have been really unlucky with professor. This semester I have two professor that who didn't give any syllabus at all.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I will count you what we have close to campus. Fast food chains like Taco Bell, Subway, Mc Donald's, Wendy's, KFC. WE have 3-4 coffee places like Sugarhouse Coffee, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts. We have two sushu places, gourmet hamburger and sandwich places, Middle Eastern food and an Indian restaurant.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I am sure they are doing a great job and all that, but we have a big lack of school spirit on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments are super expenisve, if you have 4-5 friends you can move into a house, which is not terrible.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Usually it is safe. There is some theft and vandalism but not that much.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: There are many international students on campus but they do not usually interact with American students. Chinese hangs out with Chinese, Norwegians hangs out with each other, so they do not really add something to campus.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: This really depends on you. If you are in love with skiing then this place is for you. But if you are not a mountain lover then do not come here.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Single apartment system is pretty good but do not stay at traditional housing. It sucks. It is super close to classes so this is convenient during winter.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Sugarhouse area have treated me well for last few years. Everything is almost close to campus(walking distance) but do not forget that it is not walking distance anymore once the bad weather gets in. SLC downtown is ok, gets old after 2-3 months. Park City is always fun but most of the people at this school rather spend their money on hard drugs so they don't like enjoying nice stuff that SLC and PC offers.

1 College Sophomore

Majors: START Center sucks. They are not helpful at all. The only person who is helpful is Deb but other than that they suck. We have this e-portfolio thing which is the worst. They put a hold on your account if you don't finish it on time. There are some good professors but most of the time they suck.

2 College Sophomore

Majors: If you have a brain you will get in. If you were addicted to drugs but now you regret, you will get in. If you have money you will get in. If you have good GPA, school will throw scholarships to your face because they want you desperately.

2 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Parties are bad, bunch of people just going crazy breaking the ceilings of the houses and in the end cops busting the party. Only nice thing is cops are really chill around here you can just walk pass them and they won't write you up.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I've never had a bad run-in with campus police or policy. It's been great.

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Westminster offers a great overall experience, with most students appreciating their time spent at the College. The faculty is awesome, and the classes are really interesting. Plus, Salt Lake City is a really cool place in which to live and study. Come to campus prepared to ski and snowboard!

The most common issue people have is with the school's size. It is a very small campus, where everyone knows most everyone. It does not have the same feeling as a huge university. Some people attend Westminster out of necessity and proximity from home, but it still often ends up being a great choice for them. Westminster's reputation is continually getting better, and the College is becoming a more well-known school.
