Local Atmosphere: I love the local people because they support our school and are very polite towards us

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Western New Mexico University is very diverse. We have people as well as professors that come from all around the world and it is a great opportunity to be able to share experiences. WNMU is not a very big college which is great because the students get more one on one time with the professors; The atmosphere is very learning oriented, I have not met a professor that wouldn't go out of their way to help you get what you needed. The area that Western New Mexico is located is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever seen. While going to WNMU, you have the opportunity to step out side and the mountains be your back yard but the one thing that cannot be beat is the beautiful dessert sunsets. Here at Western New Mexico University, everyone is invested in your success. This is a beautiful place full of opportunities.

Local Atmosphere: Blues Festival and Pro rodeo in June. Kind of an eclectic mix of hippies, city people and country folks. The museum is interesting as is the museum at the college.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: A Little Can Go a Long Way – Western New Mexico University has a small town college vibe. Which can give it a homey kind of atmosphere, where people are friendly and very helpful. Although there is few resources for things to do, it shouldn't stop anyone from getting creative.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: So Much to See – Silver City, New Mexico is a small town filled with historical buildings and stories of people who lived here (i.e. "Billy The Kid", Buffalo Soldiers etc). In addition, Silver City, NM have several popular site seeing spots that offer site seers nice views and an great time in the outdoors. There are beautiful animals living in the mountains which includes a variety of beautiful birds and other wild animals.
