Western New Mexico University Reviews
Rating 3.61 out of 5 306 reviews
Western New Mexico University offers a low-cost and easily accessible campus for those who cannot afford larger schools and cannot be physically present on campus. For these reasons, I truly do appreciate Western New Mexico University for what it is. However, just like most small universities, it does unfortunately lack a lot of what some people deem "the college experience" in terms of having extracurricular activities, diverse amounts of groups to join, etc. Despite its lack of such things, it still allows a cost-effective way to your education remotely or in person which is great.
Football scholarship is a joke, they money grab in any way possible. Meal plans are expensive and have constantly made me ill. There is nothing to do here. The only way into the city is via a puddle jumper or driving 2 hours to the nearest airport. I was enrolled to get a chemistry degree, but after 4 months I learned that the school only had 1 chemistry professor and couldn't provide the degree that was promised. I decided to leave after 1 semester. They withheld information that would allow me to live off campus and was tricked into signing off a lease to the dorm with a meal plan. I was scammed out of thousands of dollars. Per the contract, I still have to pay for the meal plan and housing even though I am officially going back home because I still have to be enrolled in classes. I requested to cancel my housing but I was denied even though I have more than 30 credits to live off campus. I am leaving feeling exploited and disappointed. I warn any athletes to avoid this school.
I have really enjoyed being a dull enrollment student with you guys through early college high school in Deming, NM. I really enjoyed the professors and how I was able to learn they were very understanding. This was an outstanding school to attend and take classes in while I was in high school.
