College Freshman

Nightlife: Do not attend nightlife events

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Although the nightlife can be exciting, it makes living in the dorms Hell.... Don't expect to sleep in or go to bed early.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: For those who like to party there is always something. Local bars are great too. If you are not interested in partying you can always find something fun to do at the rec or Bernhard center or in downtown Kzoo! There'd something for everyone

Nightlife: Parties at Western can be pretty unorganized. For instance, there can be a weekend where many decide to host parties but they don't thoroughly promote the event, provide refreshments, they may have an admittance fee, not enough diversity in people or music, etc. On the other hand, those that do think their parties through, it can be a great time! Transportation for these events are reliable. There is even an RSO on campus called Drive Safe Kalamazoo (DSK) that provides non-judgmental rides for students and their guests back to their homes if they are too intoxicated to drive themselves.

Nightlife: There are always parties to attend to.You don't have to know anyone to go and can be a lot of fun.

Kalamazoo has a very active bar scene for students 21-and-up. Some of the best bars include The Grotto, Y-Bar, Shakespeare's Pub, the Kalamazoo Beer Exchange, Waldo's, University Roadhouse, Wayside West, Monaco Bay, Wild Bull, and The Union. There are often tons of students spread out all across the area looking to have a good time, and they find it, too. There are also local movie theaters and a number of restaurants that offer specials and discounts for students.

Nightlife at Western is something special. On the weekends, there are parties all across the area. Fraternity Village and other streets around the area are filled with outgoing party-goers. If you're under 21, there's still plenty to do. A lot of underage students like to hang out at Wild Bull (until 9 p.m., when underagers are no longer allowed to frequent the establishment). Plus, there are often parties on campus where under-21 students can socialize and mingle.
