Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The beauty of Western is that there is no stereotypical student, no one area that you can lump most people into due to the various types of people with different interests, styles, and goals. So whatever students are looking for, whether it be a certain type of person or certain type of relationship, they'll find it.

At WKU, just like many other campuses, guys have it a little better than girls, with 60 percent of the campus being female versus 40 percent that are male. However, it's not like every guy has two girls—keep dreaming. Relationships between people going to different schools are quite common. Though the other schools in Kentucky are around two hours away, there are many long-distance relationships between high school sweethearts or those who met at a rivalry game.

Social Scene
Parties. The gym. A bar. In class. You can pretty much meet someone anywhere. If you are friendly (and not creepy!), others are sure to reciprocate.
Hookups or Relationships?
Both! This is not a campus where everyone gets married, but there are people who are in very committed long-term relationships. There are also people who just randomly hook up. Relationships can be whatever you make of them.
Dress Code
Most students dress fairly casual (jeans and a T-shirt), but the University has all styles. Some people go to class in their pajamas, while others dress in full professional attire. Some people dress in the latest trends, while others wear gym clothes all day.
