4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: You can meet people very well. Joining groups and just being nice to people and talk to random people.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: The guys and girls at WIU are pretty average for the midwest. We have some country/rural people who simply wear camo clothes all of the time, but we also have some folks from Chicago who liven the place up a bit. The campus is pretty diverse in that respect.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: I don't think it is anything spectacular, but then again i am married with two children.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: In every situation with a lot of people, there will always be people with different personalities. But everyone seems approachable.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The guys and girls at my school are okay. There isn't much diversity at WIU. It's a predominately white school with black people ad Hispanics being minorities. And a minuscule population of Asian and other races. Students dress different. There aren't many serious dating couples at school. people just hookup with others or its a temporary thing. Half of the students only care about drinking and partying. While the other half is more focused on athletics, clubs and organizations and most importantly academics.

The girl-to-guy ratio at Western is pretty even, which most students enjoy. On average, students find the opposite sex fairly attractive, but not supermodels. Girls and guys are relatively outgoing, and very into partying; nerdy and academically-focused are two attributes that do not describe the average student at Western. Guys and girls are always flirting, but the majority of students seem to either be in a causal, non-exclusive relationship or single. Frat parties are where the majority of freshmen and sophomores meet each other, and upperclassmen often meet at the bars. A social gathering between guys and girls often includes heavy drinking and dancing. The average student is in between prudent and promiscuous, but perhaps a little bit closer to promiscuous.

Students earn the most points with the opposite sex when it comes to being outgoing, fun, and into partying. As a result, the social scene revolves around partying. It’s obvious when girls are going out, because they often dress inappropriately. Tiny skirts, low-cut shirts, and high heels are standard nighttime attire, regardless of the weather. Some fraternities and sororities have events that are specifically held to introduce single people to one another. Students in committed, long-term relationships are somewhat rare on campus, and the average student would prefer to not be committed to someone.

Social Scene
Campus isn't always brimming with activity, but there is usually something going on. In the warmer months, plenty of students are outside socializing, playing Frisbee, or partying. In the winter there is not quite as much to do, but the school still sponsors social events on occasion, and groups and clubs usually have something going on.
Hookups or Relationships?
The girls and guys at Western most often casually date or hook up rather than form exclusive long-term relationships. There are some students in serious relationships, but the majority are either single or seeing someone casually. It's not uncommon for students to continue dating someone from back home, since most students live not more than a few hours away.
Dress Code
The majority of students dress very casually. Pajamas are perfectly acceptable dining hall attire. Students tend to dress a little bit nicer to go out, but it's still very casual. Virtually no students dress up for any situation unless they are required to do so.
