The girl-to-guy ratio at Western is pretty even, which most students enjoy. On average, students find the opposite sex fairly attractive, but not supermodels. Girls and guys are relatively outgoing, and very into partying; nerdy and academically-focused are two attributes that do not describe the average student at Western. Guys and girls are always flirting, but the majority of students seem to either be in a causal, non-exclusive relationship or single. Frat parties are where the majority of freshmen and sophomores meet each other, and upperclassmen often meet at the bars. A social gathering between guys and girls often includes heavy drinking and dancing. The average student is in between prudent and promiscuous, but perhaps a little bit closer to promiscuous.
Students earn the most points with the opposite sex when it comes to being outgoing, fun, and into partying. As a result, the social scene revolves around partying. It’s obvious when girls are going out, because they often dress inappropriately. Tiny skirts, low-cut shirts, and high heels are standard nighttime attire, regardless of the weather. Some fraternities and sororities have events that are specifically held to introduce single people to one another. Students in committed, long-term relationships are somewhat rare on campus, and the average student would prefer to not be committed to someone.
