5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Having on older brother graduate from WCU and another from another school I can tell you that WCU is a great place to receive the help needed to enter the workplace in the field of study you choose.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Class size is great but it is sometimes hard to get classes you need. In most majors if you stay up with what you need to take it is less of a problem. In freshman year you can see what is needed to stay on track for 4 years but you don't want to drop anything if you can help it.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: I suspect that this is a problem with any school but it is never an easy process for my family. In the end it always works out and works out well but not an easy process to go through.

Campus Housing: On campus housing is being updated which is good howver this does cause hardship on incoming freshmen. it does cause a shortage when a freshman dorm is being updated. The newer dorms are better than the other capuses that I visited.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Parking can be an issue on campus and the campus police are very quick to ticket cars for any infraction. The administration is however fairly easy on just letting us be college students. The rules are not unbearable.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: WCU was not my first choice when looking at college but housing played a big part in my coming to school here. When compared to all the other schools I looked at WCU was by far the best. The on campus has all been updated and off campus housing is new, convenient and not what I would consider over priced.

Athletics: Our athletics program has suffered through several years of taking a back seat to other campus activities. But with a new chancelor coming aboard 2 years ago there has been a sort of revival in all of our varsity sports and a new pride in supporting our school.

Academics: My major is social work and out of all of those enrolled in the program as well as our instructors I am the lone conservative with all others being very liberal in their beliefs. In a few areas it is a hardship but many of my professors admire me for my stand on issues even though they don't agree with them. Most do understand my right to disagree. I feel that this stance does not penalize me in any way and will be afforded the same opportunities as those who agree with everything they hear in class.

4 College Junior

Academics: Our professors are very accessible at WCU. I have been able to approach professors when strugling in an area and have been able to discuss problems with them. They have been, for the most part, very helpful to me.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: My school have great school spirit. They strongly support all the teams on campus equally.

Health & Safety: If you are not feeling good, the on campus health building is a great place to go. Crime rate on campus isn't really none on campus. Most of the crime will be drinking tickets or parking tickets. Nothing really major. I feel safe on the campus, you basically know most of the people on campus because its just a small school.

Campus Dining: I don't really care for the campus food. It isn't all that great to me. There isn't a lot of food options, so its take it as you can get it. If you have the choice of being able to just cook for yourself, it would be the better choice.

Overall Experience: I believe if you show that you really want this, the teachers will willing help you succeed in life. You cant help someone else unless you help yourself at first. The alumni network is great, they really connect with the students to help them. Depending on your major, many internships are on campus for people to have You just have to apply yourself to do it.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love the class size. Its no more than 40 people in a class. The professors know the students by name and also very hands on. What I mean by that is that they are willing there to help you if you ask them. It can be as simple as you need someone to talk to about something all the way to helping to improve your grades. The work load and courses are just as much as any other college or university. I love it all together.

Local Atmosphere: My University is located in the mountains of North Carolina. It has the most amazing view from any part of the campus. The best part is when the sunsets. Its the most beautiful thing you have ever seen. The population in Cullowhee, North Carolina is very small. The people in the town is very supportive towards the school and the students that attend it. There inst much shopping there other than Wal-Mart and the gift shops on campus. The nearest mall is in Asheville,NC which is at least 45 minutes away. its a cultural place near/on campus called Mountain Heritage. This is a building that goes n depth of the history of the mountains.

Scholarships: I really wasn't giving any tips on to how to do it. I went in blind not knowing what to actually expect. So, my first semester in the Fall was just receive what they can give me. The Spring semester I figured out a way to get to all the money i can get and it was just enough to continue at the University.

Majors: It is a great experience. For an example, I am apart of the garden club. This club might sound boring but it is not. You get to learn about the different type of plants that grows veggies, fruit, and etc.. What I like about it is that, it just started back up. So everything is starting new. This means that in ten to twenty years when the trees we planted have grown to its full potential; I can go back and say I have done that.

Majors: I haven't had an internship before but I would like one in the future. When I actually receive one, i would like it to local to home or near my college. Also, I would like to be hands on and be able to help people to get better. I will be fully commitmented to the job with pay or not.

College Senior

Diversity: I don't really know how the diversity is on campus. In my particular major, we're mostly all white girls, but there's the occasional guy. Very little diversity.

College Senior

Campus Housing: I've never lived in on-campus housing, so I can't really answer this question.

College Senior

Greek Life: I'm not really sure how to answer this question. My undergrad university didn't have a Greek system. It's entirely new to me, but I can't say that I particularly like it.

Scholarships: Wow, what a nightmare. In my undergrad, I never had any problems applying for and receiving financial aid. I constantly check my fin aid status to make sure I'm up-to-date. The problem is, I'm not sure the college does the same thing. Last semester, I had applies for financial aid and was enrolled in all of my classes. I thought everything was fine, and my status online was good. A few days into the semester, I get an email saying they need some specific form from me. One form. And they tell me I have less that 2 days to do it or they'll drop me from all of my classes. Luckily I got it in on time, but I have a friend that didn't even get that email. They dropped all her classes, and it was a total nightmare to get everything fixed.

Off-Campus Housing: I live off campus. The school has a website that lists available sites for off-campus living, but they are very few and far between in this area. If you want a 1-bedroom apartment, then GOOD LUCK. They're very hard to find.

2 College Senior

Nightlife: Wow. No. Nightlife here is awful. There's maybe a handful of bars in this area, and all of them are sketchy and you have to battle skeezy college boys the entire time. You'd have to drive an hour to go anywhere that was even worth hanging out at.

College Senior

Athletics: I don't really participate in any athletic clubs or activities on campus. The only athletic experience that I do have on campus is the fact that I'm a runner. I typically run about 6 miles three times a week, and I haven't really had a great experience on campus. I like running outside, and there really aren't any great running trails. I run on the sidewalks around campus, and I'm constantly dodging cars and getting cat calls from frat boys. Not cool. I wish there was a specific, paved, secluded running trail that was at least a few miles long.
