3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are a vast amount of fast food restaurants on or around campus, it is not ideal for healthy eaters. There are many options, just not many healthy ones.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are many options for off-campus housing. You can choose to live on campus but in a house not owned by the school, there are also many options further away from campus. It all depends on what you are looking for but there is a variety of options for anyone, it's all just based on personal preference.

Majors: I have just started getting into it but beside that I find it very interesting.

3 College Junior

Majors: It is a very competitive major but you must go through an application process which is only available in the spring for the next year.

Transportation: The buses and the PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) are good ways of transportation but they are very unreliable especially in the winter. Having a car here is great besides the fact that parking on campus becomes very expensive if you frequently drive.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: It seems that this University like all University's are preoccupied with ethnicity and race diversity ........What is most important to me and should be for others..is Diversity in Thought ...today so many students and faculty object and are not tolerant of well known speakers who come to university's.. .especially those of Conservative thought ...looks like the left wants to hush anyone with a different political view..............yet the left is always talking about tolerants ....but only for there own .....

Drug Safety: I do not see the drugs but then again I do not go to big crazy parties

Weather: Winter is horrible but other than that, it's wonderful and beautiful!

Scholarships: Takes awhile but it is well worth it

College Freshman

Nightlife: I do not live downtown and have not experienced what it is like.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: There is the proper level of enforcement around the campus, enough to make students feel safe but capable of having fun.

2 College Sophomore

Greek Life: It's a popularity contest and a way to flex how much money your family has. The students involved are very offensive especially during move in weekend where they harass and even drug freshmen.

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many restaurants to try out, and many have fair prices. Many places deliver and are open late. Very vegetarian friendly, more so than the dining halls.

Scholarships: There doesn't seem to be many opportunities for exceptional scholarships other than the ones you receive when you're first accepted.

Drug Safety: There is a lot of drinking (and underage as well) but university police is in full force of a night. They are there to make sure no one is roofied or simply are sober enough to make it home safely.

Transportation: The PRT can be great, emphasis on can. If the weather isn't cooperative, so will the PRT. When it does work it's great. Not much to go to without riding a bus (Walmart and such), or walking downtown.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: There is a broad range of students here. There's many people there just like you, everyone can find their place.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The curriculum is great, the university offers a lot of classes for a range of interests.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: The sports are great, it's great to see students rallying at games. However, it's sickening how much of our tuition gets squandered into the sporting facilities. They're making a huge profit on ticket sales and concessions, but it seems like the money doesn't come back to the university.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: It really depends on your expectations. If you're planning on living the high life, you better check yourself. The rooms are decently sized and some dorms don't have A/C, but it's a dorm not a palace.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: There's always something new to see or do, it's hard to get bored.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Campus feels safe and the police do take preventative measures. There seems to be very little crime other than around 2 AM, where all the crimes seem to occur.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There's people from all over the eastern side of the country and beyond. I feel the university is pretty diverse for being tucked away in West Virginia.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: I love the atmosphere of the town. There's plenty of things to do here. There's a a buttload of homeless people though.

Overall, students have made it pretty clear that they are really enjoying their time at WVU. Looking back through this book, it can be seen that WVU has garnered many high grades for subjects such as social scene, academics, and athletics. It is clear that there are many things the school excels in. The aforementioned are huge parts of campus life at WVU, and the students have said nothing but good things about them. While there were many high grades, there were a few grades that show the University could still improve in certain areas. It is clear that the campus dining services are not doing a great job pleasing the students, nor is the parking situation on campus. Considering these are two pretty important things on a college campus, the University should quickly take the right steps to move those two issues into a positive direction.

The attitude at WVU seems pretty split between academics and social events. While most students attend WVU with the expectation of a great education, there are a select few who come to WVU because of the potential party scene. Either way, WVU offers something for each side. With each incoming class comes the promise to improve upon faults and provide students with the best possible experience and education. The athletics program is on the rise and on the verge of gaining national prominence. The academic programs are showing promise as more WVU graduates are gaining recognition for their accomplishments. WVU is a student-oriented university, and should be considered by incoming freshmen who want to be treated to a great college education and experience.
