Nightlife: Almost anything you can do can be found on High Street. Pretty active but its not all the time busy.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Almost everything at WVU is surounded by Football. Basketball gets recognition but not as much as Football. Football is the religion at WVU.

Facilities: Best School in the State – WVU offers the best scholarhips for in-state students, and has the best selection for major/minor programs. WVU boasts one of the best libraries in the country, and a really awesome student rec center. We also have WVUp All Night which is an alternative night activity on the weekends, with free food, music, movies, and other activities.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Boys, Boys, Boys. There seem to be a lot of them, but they just don't seem to be available. There are some lookers, and they seem to be pretty focused on school, sports, and partying.

Local Atmosphere: Going to School in the Hub of the Mountain State – WVU is nestled into the small town of Morgantown, WV. Morgatown offers plenty of small town charms like shops and local eateries, and big city entertainment in the form of our many bars and night clubs. Downtown Morgantown also hosts a variety of events for the whole community which students are welcome to engage in like Chocolate Lovers' Day, Brew Ha Ha, and the Holiday Cookie Quest. Morgantown has long since been a cultural center for the state since the university is housed here, and therefore there are plenty of diverse activities to engage in as well. It's also no secret that we have an awesome athletic program, whether you want to play for an intramural or club sport, or just watch the varsities, we've got it. Interactions with locals (being one myself) are generally positive, but some segments of the student population who party a little too hard can be frustrating.

Campus Strictness: Strict but Forgiving – Campus police typically gives warnings for first offenses for underage drinking, assuming the individuals are not belligerent, and RA's will sometimes look the other way if their residents generally act respectfull. Professors are generally happy to help students who ask for it, but grades are usually not rounded up; if a student is .1% from an "A", for the semester, they will receive a "B+".

Drug Safety: Average College Town – At WVU, it's easy to find people who are frequently into marijuana, but those people are typically in the minority. Also in the minority, though, are people who don't drink.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Are You Hungry? There are tons of off campus dining options. Most places downtown are awesome to eat at or get delivered, because most places bring the food to you!

Campus Dining: Are You Hungry? On campus dining is decent, there are plenty of cafeteria style dining halls, the mt lair has many options as well, and if you decide you want something different, other options are not far away.

Weather: Its Variable – When it does rain, it pours, and when it snows you can not get around.

4 College Senior

Athletics: Pretty Sweet – Sports are a big deal at WVU. The teams are great, facilities are excellent, fans are supportive and there is a ton of school spirit, things may get out of hand sometimes, but our school president does well with calming things down.

5 College Senior

Diversity: The University Is Diverse – I think it is rather diverse at WVU. There are students from all over the world and I find everyone I meet to be accepting of all people.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: WVU is like a home away from home for me. Every thing is so conveniently placed, and i have never had any problems here. Although if you wanna succeed here you have to be able to balance your social and academic life. If one gets over powered by the other then you are in alot of trouble.

College Freshman

Academics: Not Yet Sure of My Major – I was originally a Pharmacy major at WVU, but after some thought and a tough semester, i decided to change my major to Forensic Science. Since this is going to be my first semester as a Forensics major i do not know what the work load or curriculum will Intel, but if is anything like the Pharmacy program was i believe it will be a tough program

Nightlife: Top Party School – West Virginia University is one of the top party schools in America. Students are known for the burning of the couches. There are plenty of bars and clubs to go to, but most of the partying during the semester is done at house parties, after a football or basketball game.

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe – Living off campus, which I do, is relatively safe. There are many emergency machines located strategically around campus so that if an emergency would happen you can call for help. There are, like in any other places, petty theft and occasionally fights that break out on High Street, but usually just after people leave the bars.

Local Atmosphere: Great Learning and Social Atmosphere – WVU is a place where one can learn and grow. When you leave WVU you will be ready to work in the Globaized World!!!Morgantown has lots of fun things to get into and the night life is the best in the area. Just mins from pittsburgh, pa!!!

4 College Freshman

Transportation: There are tons of cheap if not free ways of getting around Morgantown day or night. Buses, PRT, Taxis', even carpooling. My only complaint is that the reliability of the PRT is iffy

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek Diversity – I think there isn't as much greek activity that I would be interested in. Having more black fraternities would make things a bit more interesting.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Undergrad Housing – Towers is a good place to start out when you come to WVU because the atmosphere is very friendly and the amount of other freshman there make you comfortable and lets you socialize with other people who may just be like you.

Parking: For what parking is at an extremely large school, it is fairly accommodating. There are usually enough spaces for everyone. If the parking garage is full, it is not a long walk at all to the next nearest parking lot.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Off-Campus – Apartments here in Morgantown are very considerate, for the most part. There aren't many apartment complexes in the nearby downtown campus which would be extremely convenient, but there are shuttle buses that run from the apartment complexes to each of the campuses.

Facilities: The Rec Center at WVU in Morgantown is very well organized and presentable. I enjoy working out there and being able to have fun participating in other activities the Rec Center offers, e.g. rock climbing.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Guys Are Picky – The guys at WVU are pretty hot for the majority of them. Most of them are the typical frat boys, stuck up, nice bodies and looking for one thing. BUT you can come across a few sexy sweethearts, just have to look in the right place!

2 College Junior

Campus Dining: Same Thing Every Week – Although the food is pretty good, it does get annoying to eat the same thing every week. Every once in a while, they will change it up but it's usually something small like changing from fries to green beans. They need to change the soup a little more often and they put way too much sauce on the pizza. But on the other hand, looking back on living in the dorms, I miss having someone cook for me!

Overall, students have made it pretty clear that they are really enjoying their time at WVU. Looking back through this book, it can be seen that WVU has garnered many high grades for subjects such as social scene, academics, and athletics. It is clear that there are many things the school excels in. The aforementioned are huge parts of campus life at WVU, and the students have said nothing but good things about them. While there were many high grades, there were a few grades that show the University could still improve in certain areas. It is clear that the campus dining services are not doing a great job pleasing the students, nor is the parking situation on campus. Considering these are two pretty important things on a college campus, the University should quickly take the right steps to move those two issues into a positive direction.

The attitude at WVU seems pretty split between academics and social events. While most students attend WVU with the expectation of a great education, there are a select few who come to WVU because of the potential party scene. Either way, WVU offers something for each side. With each incoming class comes the promise to improve upon faults and provide students with the best possible experience and education. The athletics program is on the rise and on the verge of gaining national prominence. The academic programs are showing promise as more WVU graduates are gaining recognition for their accomplishments. WVU is a student-oriented university, and should be considered by incoming freshmen who want to be treated to a great college education and experience.
