Computers: there aren't many computers here to just jump on at any time, but there is wifi almost everywhere on campus. I would definitely recommend bringing everything you got from laptop to desk computer because a lot of homework and research will happen there. The wifi isn't that great, but it gets you by. Also, BRING A PRINTER.

Drug Safety: Considered Party School – West Virginia is considered a party school to most of the students here. There are students out every night of the week drinking and going to bars. There is not as much drug use that shows as much as alcohol, except smoking.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Need New Options – Although there are many places to eat, it is all the same. Each dining hall should have different things each day.Students should also be able to go whenever they want not just once at certain times each day.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Always Protected – All over campus there are always security, especially at night and around the dorms. I always feel safe walking around, even if its just with another one of my girl friends. As long as you are being safe, you will never have a problem.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: The people set the school apart from other schools. The school spirit is definitely there! At any point during the day or night you can scream "Lets Go" and at least five people will reply with "Mountaineers". Its a fun and active campus.

Campus Housing: Campus Life – Towers are the older dorms, but I love the people there! The honors hall is new, but the people either stay in all the time and study or they party a lot. The campus life is very lively, all week long. The people are nice and its easy to find something to do at night. Its fairly inexpensive, it just depends on what you do and where you go. Housing on campus and apartments fill up fast! SO don't wait to fill out the housing application or put in a deposit because you can be stuck with no place to stay.

Computers: Computer Access – The computers are great, there are macs and PC's so you can choose which ever you like. The printing is cheap but it also helps to have your own just in case the printers are not working or it the library is packed. The wireless is great! It is easy to connect to the internet, the connection is also fairly fast.

Scholarships: The financial aid office exists and can be contacted for scholarships and aids, but they don't come to you. You have to make an extra effort to get something out of them. I have been offered loans but nothing great.

3 College Junior

Facilities: School Spirit – The things that set our school apart from other schools is our pride and spirit in our team and state. Witnessing a game day in Morgantown is a must see experience. Our school has a competitive fire that no school can match.

Campus Housing: On Campus Life – Living on campus has its ups and downs. For example, its easy to move around to different locations on campus, but the food is mediocre in the dorms cafeterias

College Student

Transportation: Convenience and Long=Distance – The college provides transportation to airport or bus for the holidays. You can walk or call a cab to go to the stores. The campus is located right in the middle of town. Getting where you need to be is not a problem.

Academics: Pre. Vet. I'm a freshman at Potomac State College studing Pre.Vet. I chose this college to start my studies because its a small campus and I felt I would be able to get to know my professors on a personal level. So far all of my instructors are very helpful and show they want to help me reach my goal in life to become a veterinary.

Overall Experience: Great School – WVU is a very enjoyable place to go to school. Everyone here is a true mountaineer with pride for their school.

Off-Campus Housing: It is rather difficult to find a genuine, decent landlord that isn't just money hungry. Apartment cost is mildly expensive, pending upon the amenities it offers. However, there are lots of apartments to choose from. Most apartments are available in the Evansdale campus. Apartments downtown get taken quickly.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Over Average – There are multiple places to eat out on the Downtown Campus, as well as the Evansdale Campus. The Towers dorms have a wide variety of food and its quality is good also.

2 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drinking School with a Football Problem – Alcohol with weed on the side.... and you don't have to dig too far to find harder drugs like shrooms, molly, E, cocaine. but I'm sure theres more too. However those that do harder drugs do it behind closed doors and won't pressure you. There is also a small but firm minority of people that don't do anything.

Greek Life: Big Greek Community – There are a endless number of sororities and fraternities at West Virginia University. Fraternity and Sorority housing is either right by or close to campus. They sponsor a lot of activities and help do a great deal of community service around town.

Campus Housing: The Dorms Are Nice – I don't live at the dorms but a lot of the freshmen dorms had trouble with heating when winter hit. From what I've heard they are over all pretty good dorms and they are right on campus so you're never too far from class.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Has a good general atmosphere. There's not a lot of attractions or activities outside of campus to do but is in relatively close distance to other cities like Pittsburgh.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Pretty Fun – the fun is mainly downtown at the bars. also you can find some house parties but they do get broken up

3 College Freshman

Academics: Generally Good – the teachers make sure you understand what is going on and try to help you succeed.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Such a great Institute – WVU Engineering department is one of the best Engineering departments in United States. Great faculty and campus. Overall, they deserve an A+ without any question.

Greek Life: Im not in greek life but i plan to be next semester. They through parties in the beginning of each semester that anyone can come in as long as they bring money or women. But after rush its exclusive if you don't know someone. If your in greek life its awesome and the resources they bring like alumni and jobs are cool. if your in them there good. but if your not then its fine too. its not necssacaery to be in them to fit in.

Health & Safety: Health & Safety – Although I heard from my RA that 66% of the students have an STI, there is a lot of safety and health. Those people were stupid. The condom caravan come around every so often and sells condoms, 5 for a 1$. CRAZY RIGHT. The carruth center is always available for talking to someone or seeking other psychology s***. Ive never been there but they advertise it a lot. I think the first 12 sessions are free for a semester. There is a lot of Drugs but its up to you to stay away or do them responsibly. There is a shit load of cops. at the freshman towers, they oversee everyone who comes in to the dorms after midnight from thursday to saturday. You here about thefts but as long as your smart you have nothing to worry about.

Parking: I don't have a car but I herd its extremely expensive to obtain a parking spot. Limited parking lots and traffic is terrible.

Overall, students have made it pretty clear that they are really enjoying their time at WVU. Looking back through this book, it can be seen that WVU has garnered many high grades for subjects such as social scene, academics, and athletics. It is clear that there are many things the school excels in. The aforementioned are huge parts of campus life at WVU, and the students have said nothing but good things about them. While there were many high grades, there were a few grades that show the University could still improve in certain areas. It is clear that the campus dining services are not doing a great job pleasing the students, nor is the parking situation on campus. Considering these are two pretty important things on a college campus, the University should quickly take the right steps to move those two issues into a positive direction.

The attitude at WVU seems pretty split between academics and social events. While most students attend WVU with the expectation of a great education, there are a select few who come to WVU because of the potential party scene. Either way, WVU offers something for each side. With each incoming class comes the promise to improve upon faults and provide students with the best possible experience and education. The athletics program is on the rise and on the verge of gaining national prominence. The academic programs are showing promise as more WVU graduates are gaining recognition for their accomplishments. WVU is a student-oriented university, and should be considered by incoming freshmen who want to be treated to a great college education and experience.
