Local Atmosphere: Fun Time – Morgantown and the WVU Campus offer activities for all people! Their is of course a great nightlife and WVU has a party school reputation. School athletics are also held at upmost importance and for good reasons..LETS GO MOUNTAINEERS! There are also many nature related activites, clubs galore, rec sports leaques, Greek life, honor socities, an active student government, and many, many education opportunities. Overall its a great place to go to school. Also a great place to live and work!

Parking: Parking on campus is difficult. There are not enough spaces in the parking garage and the price is $1/hour. Parking is hard to find in other locations as well. There seems to be way more students with vehicles than parking spots.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Student Policies – Students that live in the dorms have stricter rules than those who live off campus. In the dorms students are not allowed to drink or do drugs in the facility. If you get caught you attend a student hearing.

5 College Junior

Athletics: School Spirit – Sports is a big deal at West Virginia University, especially the mens football and basketball teams. These events take place at huge and extremely nice facilities. Many students attend these games and the whole community gets excited around game time.

Transportation: Some local transportation but mostly independent transportation is available.

4 College Student

Diversity: Some get along and others think they are all that matters in life. Each person is of themself but need to learn to cope with many other styles and types of individuals.

Weather: Snowy and cold in the winter coupled with mountainous terrain can make for a difficult journey to class. Springtime and fall is great though.

Scholarships: Money Money Money – I have not had to deal much with financial aid here because they have gotten my scholarship money and grants on time and where they need to be. I have not had to fight with anyone in order to receive what I need. They do offer work study on top of scholarships and that is always an easy process--one application filled out in the student center and your done. Overall the financial aid process is very smooth and easy to work with.

Facilities: Top Rated Academics and Parties! There is a variety of things that are special about WVU. Downtown there is the bar/club scene that never stops on the weekends and frat row where you will find enough house parties to last you a lifetime. On the academic level we have top rated programs that offer job placement which are always near 100% not to mention tons of research study available and top rated graduate, medical, and law schools.

Guys & Girls: Lots of Variety – At WVU there are people from all over the world so their is endless choices in possible dates, you just have to take the initiative to go out and find them. Students are always around the student center and rec or really all over campus all day so if you get out there to find what your looking for I promise there is someone that fits your type to the T.

Greek Life: If You Want It, It's There – Greek life is not a huge part of wvu. There are a lot of professional frats and sorors and a few party houses, but the party scene in wvu doesn't revolve around them. They are decently active in the community and if you want to join one, there are a variety of options, but you will have no problem finding a good time as a non greek and you might even avoid a few citations if you learn to stay away from their section of high street on a game day.

Off-Campus Housing: Fun and Cheap – The off campus housing is a little scary and a little beaten up, but its cheap and living in town makes wvu so much easier. Dorms are a lot of fun but some of the university rules get in the way of it. Better to get your own place and save the money. It'll cost you a bit on rent but its cheaper than a dorm room and meal plan. Wvu has free legal advisors, get them to look over your lease and there is a site where you can research potential landlords. Parking is a problem in some places, but driving in morgantown is a waste anyway.

Scholarships: The school has its own office for financial aid and i have been there and they do everything to help you with financial issues you are having they have jobs that are sponsored by the university and will help you pay for tuition. I didn't receive as much financial aid as i hoped i would so i can't give the financial aid an A+ but it does a very good job.

Nightlife: I know the name West Virginia University carries a conotation of a lot of underage drinking and partying. However although all of this goes on there are plenty of school sanctioned events that are designed to offer an alternative. So there are plenty of parties but i believe that is typical of almost any college campus.

Campus Dining: Dining Halls – There are five dining halls and several additional options in the student union. Most of the halls have decent food, but some are hit or miss depending on the day and time.

1 College Freshman

Campus Dining: on-campus Food sucks! pay too much... disgusting..towers options terrible!...all fake..nasty..get ready to puke if eating at towers!

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: It Could've Been Better. Very technical terms were used, long lines, unfriendly staff. I suggest volunteering to make appointments when students call and specifying different terms students may not understand.

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Dining Is Average – Dining halls are spread out decently throughout campus. Variety of food changes day to day and doesn't always have the best quality. However, it's impossible to get food in certain places after 7 or on weekends.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Everything Is Pretty Decent – I really don't have a complaint about the school itself. It's a wonderful institution with several different things to offer.

3 College Senior

Computers: Computers are plentiful on campus if you know where to find them.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Outdoor Haven – Not much with culture and arts but enough to keep the nature lover active. Biking, hiking, white water rafting, rock climbing, caving, running trails, kayaking, backpacking, and camping. Great for sports too. Pittsburgh is only an hour away if you get really desperate.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Off-Campus FOOD – There are restraunts everywhere in Morgantown. There are a ton on High Street within walking distance to downtown and their prices aren't as cheap as fast food restraunts but not as expensive as Olive Garden. Jimmy John's is my favorite!! Sidelines has awesome milkshakes and there is food locations in the Mountainlair and fast food and dine in restraunts all over Morgantown too.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: I feel that the academics offered at my school are fair. You have to do more work than you ever did in High School that's for sure. Most of the professors are willing to help if you make an effort as well. My advisor in the Fashion Program is terrible and she has no idea what she is doing EVER but other than that my experience thus far, I can't complain about.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: To be real honest, you have to go look for them yourselves. The women who work there are kinda rude most of the time and don't really help. You have to be on your toes and know other falcuty and teachers who will help you with recommendations and such.

2 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Revolves Around High St – I'm not much of a drinker, but night life at WVU consists of house parties galore and High St. Bars, Bars, Bars. That's the majority of night life and quite frankly gets old pretty quickly.

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Overall, students have made it pretty clear that they are really enjoying their time at WVU. Looking back through this book, it can be seen that WVU has garnered many high grades for subjects such as social scene, academics, and athletics. It is clear that there are many things the school excels in. The aforementioned are huge parts of campus life at WVU, and the students have said nothing but good things about them. While there were many high grades, there were a few grades that show the University could still improve in certain areas. It is clear that the campus dining services are not doing a great job pleasing the students, nor is the parking situation on campus. Considering these are two pretty important things on a college campus, the University should quickly take the right steps to move those two issues into a positive direction.

The attitude at WVU seems pretty split between academics and social events. While most students attend WVU with the expectation of a great education, there are a select few who come to WVU because of the potential party scene. Either way, WVU offers something for each side. With each incoming class comes the promise to improve upon faults and provide students with the best possible experience and education. The athletics program is on the rise and on the verge of gaining national prominence. The academic programs are showing promise as more WVU graduates are gaining recognition for their accomplishments. WVU is a student-oriented university, and should be considered by incoming freshmen who want to be treated to a great college education and experience.
