Off-Campus Dining: All service industries in Morgantown are great because they are all staffed by college educated people. There could be a few more places to eat, like a Hooters.

Off-Campus Housing: The campus at West Virginia University is very spread out. The are plenty of place for students to live with short walks to campus or transportation to take them to campus.

Facilities: The student Recreation Center at WVU is great. It has a variety of different things to help students stay in shape! There is a floor devoted to Cardio, It has elliptical machines, treadmills, rowing machines, stair climbers, and any other piece of cardio equipment you can think of possible. The floor below it is all about weight training! Our pool area has everything from swimming lanes to a bubble couch. The whirlpool is great for resistance training. There is also a running track, 6 basketball courts, and a 4 story rock wall. With all these commodities I give the WVU Student Recreation Center an A+

Scholarships: Confusing at First – When applying for financial aid at my school I was very confused and did not know how to do any of it. It almost seemed like they thought you should know already and would just send out emails saying this and that needs done. My freshman year it took awhile to get everything in placebut i finally got it and not i have been doing good so far.

Diversity: Little Different Races – At WVU there are a lot of Indian and white students. I feel everyone here is accepted, although each race seems to have there own hangout spots and places to eat, everyone gets along just fine. I know many people that are homosexual and from teachers Sometimes politial or religios beliefs can be a problem but you have to take that into concideration when you sing up for certain classes, know that those conversations may or may not come up. All together I think WVU is very well with making everyone equal and have hardly any diversity amoung the campus.

Campus Housing: Social Atmosphere – There is a lot of noise at night, therefore it can be hard to sleep

Transportation: Get to Know It – PRT: although it breaks down frequently, it gets you from point A to point B within 10 minutes
MountainLine: highly reliable, but packed if PRT breaks down
Foot Leather Express: be prepared to walk around and between the campuses

Nightlife: This Place Is Hoppin!!! The nightlife at WVU is outstanding. It is overseen by the ABC (alcohol somethingy-something) to make sure no underage drinking goes on....but it does!

College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Couch Burning – Couch burning is well known at WVU. As seen in the news, it is possible to do. But it can carry the harsh punishment of expulsion.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: The financial aid office at WVU has always been pretty helpful, but I struggle at times with finding scholarships. Its hard for an average student that is just barely over the poverty line to get much support.

Weather: The weather really sucks in the winter sometimes. Especially when the PRT shuts down, which happens a lot. The weather is also very up and down. It could be 60 and sunny and the next day, it snows a couple inches and is in the 30s or 20s. It can be very annoying sometimes.

Facilities: Athletic Centers – The athletic facilities, are historical and serve as a land mark that many have come to love, but they need some TLC. The new basketball practice facility is going to be state of the art but the coliseum needs to be worked on. The concrete is cracking and some of the classrooms in the coliseum could be worked on as well. The shell building is definitely run down, but I do believe that they are planning already on working on that. So other than those two things, the athletic centers are really nice.

Athletics: The athletics at WVU are really good. Almost every sprot offered is ranked in their division which is amazing.

Campus Dining: Dining Halls – The dining halls aren't so bad here. They could be better, but it could be way worse.

2 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Quanity Not Quality – There are a variety of guys at WVU but it's extremely hard to find a decent one.

Overall Experience: My Overal Experience – I have grown a lot as a person during my previous 5 years at West Virginia University. From the priceless friends I have made to the amazing experiences I have had, choosing WVU was one of the best decisions I made. Concerts, parties, academic achievement, and SPORTS have been fantastic to be a part of and something I will never forget!

Local Atmosphere: Modern-Eclectic Uprising – Morgantown offers a vast array of activities from outdoor hiking, scenic outlooks, canoeing, and biking to cultural experiences (i.e. worldwide music, international cuisines, etc.), art, and local hang-out spots for college students and families. Morgantown is bursting with fresh youth and diversity. This town is a "must experience" area of West Virginia!

Parking: Not Worth It – If you commute then you should bring a car the cost isn't too bad but it is a pain to find parking when you go to a school that has over 29,000 people. If you live in a dorm or in one of the off-campus apartments that have shuttles that bring you to the campus then don't bother with a car. You'll save money and time looking for a parking space.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: So Many Options – With West Virginia University being in the middle of the downtown area of Morgantown its just a 5 minute walk to the many different off-campus dinning. You'll never go hungry and if you do then you are just a really picky eater!

4 College Freshman

Academics: I Am a Criminology Major – I came to West Virginia University because of their new and approved criminology program. I am only a freshman and so far my classes are going great. But since this major is competitive you do have to work hard on all of your required classes to guaruntee a spot in this major. There are many of classes to choose from which give you a many options on where you want to take your career after college.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: Face to Face – The process is definitely made easier if you meet face to face with an advisor.

College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Never Lived Off Campus – I have never lived off campus so I do not feel qualified to answer.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I always feel safe on campus. Security presence is visible.

5 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: BEST DECISION EVER! It is a great place for anyone and everyone no matter what your interests there is something for you!

Campus Housing: Good but Could Be Better – Overall the housing is good. There just need updated and retouched which since I lived in the doors in 2006 has happened to many of the dorms but still needs to happen in quite a few. The honors college got a brand new beautiful facility but the rest of the dorms could use a litte updating. Towers is a great place to live because you meet the most people. But freshman year your classes are going to be mostly downtown so sometimes that is a better option. Fieldcrest is good if you want to be close to the stadium but far from everything else.

Overall, students have made it pretty clear that they are really enjoying their time at WVU. Looking back through this book, it can be seen that WVU has garnered many high grades for subjects such as social scene, academics, and athletics. It is clear that there are many things the school excels in. The aforementioned are huge parts of campus life at WVU, and the students have said nothing but good things about them. While there were many high grades, there were a few grades that show the University could still improve in certain areas. It is clear that the campus dining services are not doing a great job pleasing the students, nor is the parking situation on campus. Considering these are two pretty important things on a college campus, the University should quickly take the right steps to move those two issues into a positive direction.

The attitude at WVU seems pretty split between academics and social events. While most students attend WVU with the expectation of a great education, there are a select few who come to WVU because of the potential party scene. Either way, WVU offers something for each side. With each incoming class comes the promise to improve upon faults and provide students with the best possible experience and education. The athletics program is on the rise and on the verge of gaining national prominence. The academic programs are showing promise as more WVU graduates are gaining recognition for their accomplishments. WVU is a student-oriented university, and should be considered by incoming freshmen who want to be treated to a great college education and experience.
