Guys & Girls: People around West Virginia University are pretty nice and hardworking, but you will run into a few who party a bit too much.

Campus Housing: I have never been in the dorms at West Virginia University.

Facilities: We have a wonderful program at WVU called Adventure WV which features a vast amount of diverse trips and outdoor excursions, including international hiking trips, some of which count as college credit. The rec center is a beautiful facility and the school of nursing is phenomenal and provides many resources and options.

3 College Senior

Diversity: There is a fair amount of diversity at WVU and we have many international students housed on campus as well. In my experience at this school, I have met Australians, Scots, a guy from Dubai, quite a few people from Lebanon, many from Europe, and of course, many people of different ethnicity and color.

Nightlife: Nightlife at WVU is more for those who are 21+ unless you are looking for non-club scenes. There are house parties literally on every block which are hands down better than any packed, sleezy club you could go to on any given night.

Academics: WVU does not get the credit it deserves. Everyone looks upon the university as a party school, but it is a very difficult curriculum in which I study 3-5 hours every night and almost every weekend.

5 College Junior

Majors: I was a Biology major and switched to exercise Physiology and I love it. One of the best programs in the nation and i'm proud to be apart of it. So many opportunities in the program and diverse classes.

Computers: The library at WVU is absolutely amazing. Always ranked one of the best in the countries with hundreds of computers. There is also three other libraries on campus.

3 College Junior

Diversity: Although WVU is up in the hills of West Virginia, it is very diverse in economic and ethnic backgrounds. I have friends from all different types of lifestyles.

5 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: WVU is amazing! It is that full college atmosphere.

Academics: All of the Professors at West Virginia University that I have had or my friends have had have been excellent. They are also responding to emails quickly and are also willing to meet to talk about things even if it cuts into their off time. Now some aren't as easy to talk to outside of office hours but for the most part they usually help out anyway.

Facilities: The campus has to great libraries, whatever one doesn't have the other normally does and they have it brought over within a day. The athletic centers are great they have everything you need to get a great workout in. The only downside to them is the amount of people that attend the university, we need to have another gym or expand this one. It is a bit small for such a large population of students.

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I am a veteran so they only thing i have to do is fill out a coordinator card and the Veteran's Assistance that work in financial aid do the rest. As for my grants i simply fill out my FAFAS and search the web for sites that offer scholarships. I would recommend going to your financial aid department and asking of trustworthy websites to apply for more grants and scholarships.

Campus Housing: They are exactly what any college student needs, they have a great atmosphere to meet new people and have all the space you need. When you think about what you need to have to survive the campus housing is great. Although some are old they still have everything you need and more to live comfortably.

Facilities: The overall life here at WVU is pretty good if i do say. It is one of the biggest schools I've seen that put so much time and effort into the students that attend here. The school cant always have the newest gym equipment or the best room for living but it does so many great things. The PRT (personal rapid transport) between campuses is great! It eliminates all the walking that would normally take me about and hour to accomplish so i am able to schedule my classes closer together so that i finish my day sooner. They are always improving the gym, art, and housing facilities to the best of their abilities with the type budget they are facing right now.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: The buses are free for students and that is great . We have a prt system that transports too but is down sometimes and doesn't operate on Sundays in evenings but otherwise good

Campus Housing: Towers dorms are the best place to live if you’re looking for a good surrounding area that’s nice looking and close to the grocery store, but they have community bathrooms. Summit hall is the newest dorms and the best. The rooms are suit style and are located downtown so you don’t have to take the PRT. All other dorms STAY AWAY FROM! Some don’t have air conditioning or carpet or are very far from campus.

Campus Dining: Food at towers has a large variety but the quality is a hit or misses. Summit by far has the best food on campus. One nice thing is you can use your meal plan at places like Chick-fill-a, there’s an Italian, Mediterranean, Chinese, and sub place located in the mountain lair downtown.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Guys and girls at WVU are all outgoing and friendly. Everyone gets along with everyone and has a good time together. Interests of the people at WVU are pretty well set on going out and having a good time with fellow mountaineers

Nightlife: Nightlife at WVU is the best out there. There is always something to do no matter who you are. The school has a after dark set up in the mountain lair downtown where they have free food and activities like ice skating to mechanical bull riding. Clubs and bars on high street are always filled. Frat row organizes themed parties. And there are always house parties on every street.

Health & Safety: WVU is known for campus crime. I feel safe when I am with a group of people but I would never walk any where alone.

Academics: I am a nursing major which comes along with a lot of work. My program is a 4-year program but the tuition for out of state students is too high and I am now struggling to pay my tuition. The cirriculum is intense. You must maintain a 3.5 every semester or you will be on accedemic probation.

4 College Senior

Academics: Being in the School of Nursing my workload is outrageous. I know that I am in a health science major and that it comes along with my career path that I have chosen. My classes are taught by very knowledgeable professors and I feel that they will give me all the information I need to be prepared in the real world after college.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: I have been searching for months now for any financial help I can get through scholarships. WVU was helpful with showing me websites to search through.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: I love Morgantown. It is big enough that you can always have something to do or somewhere to go, but it is small enough that you feel like you know enough people around you. There are plenty of good places to eat, and there is a variety of everything here.

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Overall, students have made it pretty clear that they are really enjoying their time at WVU. Looking back through this book, it can be seen that WVU has garnered many high grades for subjects such as social scene, academics, and athletics. It is clear that there are many things the school excels in. The aforementioned are huge parts of campus life at WVU, and the students have said nothing but good things about them. While there were many high grades, there were a few grades that show the University could still improve in certain areas. It is clear that the campus dining services are not doing a great job pleasing the students, nor is the parking situation on campus. Considering these are two pretty important things on a college campus, the University should quickly take the right steps to move those two issues into a positive direction.

The attitude at WVU seems pretty split between academics and social events. While most students attend WVU with the expectation of a great education, there are a select few who come to WVU because of the potential party scene. Either way, WVU offers something for each side. With each incoming class comes the promise to improve upon faults and provide students with the best possible experience and education. The athletics program is on the rise and on the verge of gaining national prominence. The academic programs are showing promise as more WVU graduates are gaining recognition for their accomplishments. WVU is a student-oriented university, and should be considered by incoming freshmen who want to be treated to a great college education and experience.
