Transportation: Many options for free transportation, prt & busses, the only issue is how much time you have to get where you need to be.

Overall Experience: WVU is a great place to be, but getting to class can sometimes be stressful, and they are slowly cutting back on parking. Teachers however are wonderful and most have a passion for working with students.

Parking: Parking on campus is very difficult. The school discourages bringing cars and parking on campus and parking is strictly enforced to the point of towing.

Transportation: There are several buses that run for both the university funded buses and the town buses, but they are unreliable.

Campus Housing: It's fine for freshman but the rules are too strict to stand for more than one year.

Weather: The weather is generally nice but when it's cold, it's cold.

Drug Safety: I am not sure what the drug scene is like here. I have heard about people being on drugs but never an abundance of people together on drugs. Drinking is more popular than being under the influence of drugs.

Local Atmosphere: Morgantown is a beautiful place to be going to school but when you get to the downtown part of campus, some of the areas are run down and look abandon. Most of the college students make up most of the population here so I think that is may lack some family attractions because of that.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The off campus housing ranges. There are really nice apartments and houses available as well as more run down houses closer to downtown campus. I am planning on living off campus next year but I haven't started my search yet so I don't really know what the costs are like for the various places.

Athletics: WVU is all about Mountaineer spirit, and there is no better way to showcase this than West Virginia University sporting events. Students, alumni, and all mountaineer fans come together to tailgate for football games in the Blue lot, and all across town. Basketball games, soccer games, baseball games, and so many other sporting events offer so much to do. The athletic facilities are great for students and student athletes alike.

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on campus. I lived on campus my freshman year and off campus the three following years. The downtown areas surrounding the dorms are louder than the rest of the town, and obviously walking alone at night, one should be alert for suspicious activity. But as a whole Morgantown feels like a safe city. The campus has many emergency phone booths that connect to 911 if you're ever in trouble. Also, between the university, city, and state police officers that are all based in town, crime rates are fairly low.

Health & Safety: The downtown campus can be unsafe at night especially if you're by yourself, however I have never felt unsafe on Evansdale. Girls: do NOT walk alone at night especially downtown!

Off-Campus Dining: I think there could be a lot more off-campus dining options. There is plenty of fast food options and a few local hot spots. Most restaurants are either on downtown or Evansdale and not both which is inconvenient.

Facilities: The unique thing about WVU is the PRT. It is a monorail-like system that travels up and down campus that is extremely convenient. WVU is a big school and in WV there are a lot of mountains and hills. Morgantown is not an exception! The PRT gets you from the Evansdale campus to the downtown campus. The biggest problem is that it breaks down at the most inconvenient times. Some say it is always broken but I disagree. It probably breaks, on average, once a day for a short period of time. Unfortunately, this is usually when you need it the most.

Facilities: The life at WVU is great. There is always so much to do for anybody. Part of what makes it great is the school pride brought by the athletics teams. Even when they lose there is always celebrations and support. Personally I choose not to party, however if you're into that, it's everywhere. For those of you like me, it will be hard to find a good group of friends at first, but afterwards, college life is amazing. I am in the engineering program here and I love the engineering college. It's small that you know people and you can get help, but it's big enough to provide so many options. I cannot speak for the other colleges but I don't believe I would like the other programs. Morgantown is a small town; without the school there wouldn't be anything here. With that, there are many rural and scenic places to adventure near Morgantown. My advice is to go on an adventure and see where it takes you and to join at least one club. Have fun, but study! Hope to see you in Morgantown!

Guys & Girls: There is a wide variety of students at West Virginia University, of all shapes, sizes, looks, and social statuses.

Transportation: The PRT is shut down frequently, and the buses are unreliable. but there is a great deal of public transportation to use.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I received my financial aid from the Gov so I haven't really had to deal with the Financial Office. However, I did email them about a question I had two weeks ago and they have yet to reply.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are many options; chain restaurants, local diners, ethnic cuisine, and many choices for veg options!

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: WVU's campus is so big and wide spread that it's hard to keep control over everything, but overall I'm comfortable walking around. Every few feet on the main parts of campus there are "safety buttons" that you can go to and press if you are in trouble that will send a police car to your location. I see campus police every day maintaining patrol.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life at WVU can be positive in some areas, but quite a few of them have a negative atmosphere with sloppy parties and really have no positive impact on the community. A lot of Greeks however are deeply involved in community and volunteering, and those outweigh the bad ones.

1 College Junior

Parking: Parking at West Virginia University (WVU) is terrible, especially on football game days. Towing companies are always lurking, waiting to tow your car without warning. The best way to get around WVU public transportation.

Overall, students have made it pretty clear that they are really enjoying their time at WVU. Looking back through this book, it can be seen that WVU has garnered many high grades for subjects such as social scene, academics, and athletics. It is clear that there are many things the school excels in. The aforementioned are huge parts of campus life at WVU, and the students have said nothing but good things about them. While there were many high grades, there were a few grades that show the University could still improve in certain areas. It is clear that the campus dining services are not doing a great job pleasing the students, nor is the parking situation on campus. Considering these are two pretty important things on a college campus, the University should quickly take the right steps to move those two issues into a positive direction.

The attitude at WVU seems pretty split between academics and social events. While most students attend WVU with the expectation of a great education, there are a select few who come to WVU because of the potential party scene. Either way, WVU offers something for each side. With each incoming class comes the promise to improve upon faults and provide students with the best possible experience and education. The athletics program is on the rise and on the verge of gaining national prominence. The academic programs are showing promise as more WVU graduates are gaining recognition for their accomplishments. WVU is a student-oriented university, and should be considered by incoming freshmen who want to be treated to a great college education and experience.
