Academics: I think overall you get a quality education from WVU. If you can put all the partying and ridiculous out of state students aside, you receive a quality education.

2 College Junior

Greek Life: When you hear about Greek life all that comes to mind is parties.

Athletics: Football and basketball varsity sports are the two biggest at West Virginia University. The whole town shuts down on Gameday for tailgating and cheering on the 'EERS. There is also something about being in Milan Pushcar Stadium with 75,000 of your closest friends and singing "Country Roads" after a win!

Local Atmosphere: I think the "townies" get frustrated with 30,000 students invading their too small town every August. They also understand that the university is what keeps Morgantown running though. So overall there is a good atmosphere.

Weather: There is no happy medium with the weather. It is either extremely hot and humid or it is freezing cold. Every now and again there will be a perfect day, but it is very far and few between. Morgantown has two seasons, Summer and Winter

Computers: The computer labs are pretty good at WVU. The main downtown library as normal windows computers and one level just for apple computers. Students can rent either mac or windows laptops. The lab can get full at times, but usually can find a computer. Some buildings lack the good wifi however.

Facilities: WVU has 3 main campuses, Downtown, Evansdale, and Medical. The personal rapid transit system takes students from each campus. The PRT does not run as well as most students would like. The campus is spread out a bit which can be difficult to get to class. The social life is perfect for a university. The nightlife is always exciting and there is always something to do. The new sport facilities are amazing and the spirit on game days are nothing but the best.

Diversity: There is a big international population at WVU compared to other schools. Dealing with the diversity is another issue. Most students are white and are from the states nearby. Our reputation is a party school with dumb students. Although we have some students like that, there are many other types of people at the university.

Majors: Sport Management is a great major for those who want to stay involved with the sport industry. However, it is a popular major so it can be very competitive. I would do some things different (i.e. getting more involved in the club, and internships), but I would absolutely do the major again. My career goals are to work for a professional sports team or possible the professional golf association. My field as many opportunities, but finding a job out of college can be difficult.

Transportation: There is the PRT which is the personal rapid transit which takes you to the engineering, health sciences, downtown, and main campuses. It is the best thing in the world when it works, but it does break down a lot. There are also university buses that run that take you to each campus and there are public buses that are free to students that will take you anywhere.

Nightlife: Great nightlife! There are many clubs and bars that you can go to any night of the week. Also, you usually can find a party to go to on any night of the week!

Computers: The library if full of Apple computers and there are also many computer labs that also have Apple computers. You can also check out Mac books from the library.

Diversity: Great diversity! There are many people of different religions and ethnic backgrounds!

Weather: The weather varies. This past winter was pretty bad and it seemed to be cold forever. But as the year progressed it became bearable.

Transportation: WVU offers buses and the PRT as transportation options. They both get crowded very easily and aren't very reliable. The PRT breaks down almost every day and the buses aren't always on time and get caught in traffic. However, it is almost pointless to bring a car to school because parking costs a lot and traffic is always awful. Your best bet is the bus, but only if traffic isn't bad.

College Junior

Diversity: This will be my first semester at WVU so I am not exactly sure about the diversity on campus.

College Junior

Computers: This will be my first semester at WVU so I do not know what the computers are like.

Off-Campus Housing: I have not lived off campus so I do not know what it is like.

3 College Senior

Academics: Academics could be better but its more because of most students not caring rather than poor professors

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: The police have a power trip and take advantage of students most of the time

3 College Senior

Computers: There are several computer labs, but they are full a lot of the time. Printing is expensive if you have to do it often or your papers are huge

Off-Campus Housing: Parking is bad in the whole town. There are plenty of rental places some are better then others. Landlords vary and some are noted to take advantage of first time renters. Overall places are easy to find.

Health & Safety: The campus is very large and most areas are well lite. I have had no security issues. I do keep my door and closet locked

3 College Junior

Majors: It is a lot of different kinds of work since it's multidisciplinary studies, but overall the classes are not that hard to pass.

3 College Junior

Majors: It's okay, i'm trucking through it and i'll hopefully be able to put it to use after i'm done this year.

Overall, students have made it pretty clear that they are really enjoying their time at WVU. Looking back through this book, it can be seen that WVU has garnered many high grades for subjects such as social scene, academics, and athletics. It is clear that there are many things the school excels in. The aforementioned are huge parts of campus life at WVU, and the students have said nothing but good things about them. While there were many high grades, there were a few grades that show the University could still improve in certain areas. It is clear that the campus dining services are not doing a great job pleasing the students, nor is the parking situation on campus. Considering these are two pretty important things on a college campus, the University should quickly take the right steps to move those two issues into a positive direction.

The attitude at WVU seems pretty split between academics and social events. While most students attend WVU with the expectation of a great education, there are a select few who come to WVU because of the potential party scene. Either way, WVU offers something for each side. With each incoming class comes the promise to improve upon faults and provide students with the best possible experience and education. The athletics program is on the rise and on the verge of gaining national prominence. The academic programs are showing promise as more WVU graduates are gaining recognition for their accomplishments. WVU is a student-oriented university, and should be considered by incoming freshmen who want to be treated to a great college education and experience.
