Local Atmosphere: One thing I love about Webster University is the atmosphere. it is very green with old architect. There is lots of shops and restaurants near by that really help the school feel like a community. The teachers and students are very friendly and welcoming.

Local Atmosphere: The local community is a laid back older community that is mostly white. A bit uncomfortable for non white students.

Local Atmosphere: Being close to St. Louis is great, there are so many art and cultural events, along with the historical parts of downtown. Campus is a pretty close proximity to lots of things, both in St. Louis proper and otherwise.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Located near St. Louis, MO. Forest Park, St. Louis Zoo, Art Museum, The Hill, The Loop, Botanical Garden, The juke box, The Fox, The Muny, Science Center, Shopping, and much more

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There are two small street strips of stores and restaurants walking distance away. There are numerous plays and musicals put on by the Reperatory theatre on campus as well as the students in the Webster Conservatory (students get a discounted price and sometimes free)! To get downtown to St. Louis (where there is various activities and night life) you have to drive or ride the Metro (students can get a free Metro Pass). University City's "Loop" is also nearby with activities and night life. Webster Groves is pretty low key and most locals don't really care/notice the students.

There are so many options to consider when the campus sits within the heart of a well-known city like St. Louis. It's best to explore the city by car, since most of the famous landmarks are found within the downtown area, Forest Park, or within the county—all which are about 10 to 25 minutes away from campus. Places around campus are mainly local novelty shops or restaurants, with the Webster Groves City Hall just down the road and a few other shops around it. Big Bend Boulevard has the most variety, nearly the whole street is dedicated to local businesses, with restaurants and shops you would not see within walking distance of campus.

If there is a car to use, the possibilities are endless. There are many movies and performance theaters, shopping centers, tourism areas, museums, parks, and local sporting events to entertain you whenever you have some time to spare. Some places are free, like the zoo or the art and history museums, while some require having money on hand like the Fox Theatre or Ronnie's 20 Cinema. Even if you do not have access to a car, there is the MetroLink that makes stops at key areas around the city, such as the Delmar Loop or Forest Park area, with a ticket costing $7.50 each. If you know where to look, there is always something to do in St. Louis.
