4 College Junior

Overall Experience: pretty cool ready to transfer

Academic Experience: I'm a Music Ed major and Wallace is the best for a Community College. All of our music classes are accredited and will transfer to my chosen 4 year institution. We have classes for my chosen major that aren't offered at any other Community College in the state. The music teachers are the absolute best, all of them!

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: I got my basics done early on. I didn't stand out much, but my teachers were all very involved with us and with their subject.

Facilities: What makes Wallace excellent and special for me were my music professors. These people truly went above and beyond for me and others like me. They really care for me and I am extraordinarily fortunate for the time I got to study under them.

Campus Resources: I never used the library or any of the athletic centers. I did use the new computer lab; it was quiet like the library, but casual (unlike the library). The computers were brand new and it was a great place to get work done.

There is also has an open piano lab that I lived in.

Wallace has a growing reputation for it's excellent music department. Having our own building, or even just some practice rooms would make the world a much happier place.

Campus Resources: My World Literature I final was in a computer lab- the network shut down in the middle of it and we had to reboot computers. This is a completely normal thing. Good luck logging into the WiFi anywhere on campus. Some of my professors have to go into another professor's office for their laptops to work.

If the network is functioning properly, the computers in the Math Building and the CAS worked great.

Online Courses: I took English Composition, Biology I, and Microcomputer Applications online. I opted to take them online only because I already took the AP equivalent to them in high school. With the exception of Micro, everything was done through Blackboard. It was about the same as an online course in high school

Tuition & Financial Aid: I am a Music Scholarship recipient; I also was eligible to receive a Pell-Grant. I never had to pay out of pocket at Wallace still, the education is definitely worth the fees paid. You're getting the exact same materials at Wallace that Universities all across the state are getting with the added bonus of a small classroom! Professors are almost always available to give one on one time to students that may need it.

The only real experience I have dealing with Wallace's financial aid department was when I had to get my scholarship and pell papers signed off by the business office. You wait in 30 minute long line and they stamp a paper for you.

It's been very simple and straightforward for me.

A tip, if you have any paper work to handle with the financial aid office, do it as soon as possible to try and avoid the long lines.

Career Services: I'm saying "It's okay", because I honestly don't know. Numerous people graduate with Nursing Degrees and Technical degrees each year, but I don't know anything about the process they go through with Wallace to obtain a job.

I'm transferring to a for year institution to finish my degree.

Student Body: Many students at Wallace are like me; they have a passion about something, but needed a little guidance and wanted to take their basics at a lower price before transferring to a 4-year institution. A great majority of my peers either went to my high school or to one nearby. There are also a lot of adults that attend Wallace- most of them are there for nursing or a technical degree. I've really only interacted with the people in the music department. They're all really friendly, but outside of our love for music, we don't have much in common.

The majority of people I interacted with at WCC were either White, Black, or Biracial; Middle Class; Conservative; Christian; and either Heterosexual or Bi-curious.

Overall Experience: I was indecisive about my major and didn't have any plan for after high school outside of "go to college". I knew I wanted to pursue a career in music. Going to Wallace was the best thing I could have done. My professors were wonderful at helping me to decide what it was I wanted to do with myself.

Also, Wallace's In-State tuition price can't be beat!

5 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: The only issues I've had with class flexibility were due to me not registering for classes as quickly as everyone else. The college I am transferring to has a STARS guide contract with Wallace, so all of my classes are transferring over!

3 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: It was easy to apply. If there were any questions, all I had to do was ask.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: Everyone was very helpful. Was never mistreated if needed to ask a question. I love this place.

Career Services: In our clinical settings, we are being watched by the one's that work in the facility. This is our time to shine and make a great impression so that they will want us to come work for them.

4 College Senior

Student Body: no one is over looked. There is always some kind of club to fit just about anyone. It is not hard to join and they all work with the community. To me this is one of the greatest rewards.

5 College Senior

Online Courses: The instructor/student relationship is one that is unbelievable. The program I am in, the instructors care what is going on and how you are doing in all aspects of life. They are great

4 College Senior

Campus Resources: The library and librarians are very helpful. They are set up for a student to have success.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: They do offer plenty of computer labs to help a student to be successful. Printing on campus can be a little expensive. It would be nicer if they could make the power points or study guides available online in a way that we can type our notes in instead of spending so much money on printing each sheet out.

3 College Senior

Facilities: I do like the fact that they offer certain clubs that go into the community to help and show that we are committed to them.

3 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: The transfer of my other credits were not as expected. I only received partial credit and they only accepted some of my classes.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: The program is set up to make you great and to pass boards with confidence. The only downfall is that even when some instructors are not to standard and like to downgrade the students in an unsatisfactory way they are not dealt with.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: There are a few academics that we question on why they are needed. However, I am sure that every school is like that.

5 College Student

Overall Experience: I really enjoy my time at school. It's really like my second home.

5 College Student

Career Services: The career center is super helpful! Always ready to help and answer any questions I might have.
