3 College Junior

Academic Experience: I've had a rough start.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: VHCC offers a good curriculum and the registration process is easy. The professors are really great.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: I'm still in school, but so far the experience is good.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The computer labs and network works really well.

3 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: Good when you can get it.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: Most of the buildings seem very outdated. Especially the library. All the books in there are very old like decades old. The bathrooms have recently been updated though and it's clear that the campus is attempting to go green.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: It's obvious that the school and the student government makes an attempt to have various activities at the school and to get the student body involves but honestly it never happens. You'll see events set up and people working them just standing around hoping people show up. But It is a non residential community college so I guess its kind of what you would expect.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: There are a ton of computers available in the Library for student use, you can print from these computers for free. And off the library is the learning lab with even more computers to use. I prefer it in their because its a little louder. That might sound weird but I find it hard to conventrate in the stone silence of the library. There are also many tables and desks set up where you can use your personal computer, but there is no way to print throught the School network from your personal computer.

4 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: Applying for and recieving my financial Aid package was a breeze. I have attended another CC in Virginia and financial aid was such a headache there. But I will say that this school does not participate in federal student loans so all you can get is need-based pell grants. That was kind of a bummer.

5 College Freshman

Campus Resources: My college relies pretty heavily on computers. Every student is required to be able to access Blackboard to message teachers, ask class mates for help, or if you're sick you can find out your assignments. If you don't have internet access at home or don't own a computer, You're able to use any computer on campus.

5 College Student

Academic Flexibility: I took my placement tests no thinking that I would be able to get into classes until the following semester. That same day, I was able to be enrolled into classes and tour the campus. It was so nice to be asked what classes I wanted to take and that my education was in my own hands. I also will be working two jobs and it is nice that I can work my schooling into an easy ough schedule for extra shifts.

4 College Student

Student Body: Many students at Highlands are very friendly and outgoing. It is a small campus so I see some familiar faces, and people are friendly enough to start a conversation with and ask for help if needed.

2 College Student

Tuition & Financial Aid: Financial Aid was an easy process to go through at Virginia Highlands. Since I have just moved to the area, I will be receiving Out of State tuition. Although the education that I'm going to be getting is well worth the money that I will be paying for it; I have to pay the rest of what my grant doesn't cover. This being said, I looked into options of loans and the school doesn't offer any loans.

5 College Junior

Student Body: There is a lot of diversity at this college. However, everyone there is friendly, and the locals are abundant.

3 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: The reason I chose to attend this school was that it was close to my home. Also, I have two children and I am a single mother that works full time, so it is hard for me to really go anywhere else. The availability of online classes are abundant.

3 College Senior

Academic Experience: The professors are there to help when needed, but there will be at least one who doesn't know how to teach a class and relies on the power point to teach their class. They do give you good knowledge for the tests and they also help in trying to get you ready if you are planning on transferring.

1 College Senior

Student Body: The student body at VHCC are not very diverse, there isn't much activity around campus. The student body just come to class and leave to go to work, go home, or something else.

3 College Junior

Online Courses: So far I have found that the online courses are very easy to manage like with using the website, figuring out when homework is due, etc. I really like taking the course in my own hands, so I find that the online classes are exactly the type of class I am looking forward to taking.

2 College Junior

Overall Experience: The professors are very willing to help and super nice, but the community college life isn't what I wanted. I appreciate that the school is affordable and I can learn the same materials that I would at a university, but I wish there were more opportunities to do something fun like hang out at games or meet people and more clubs.

1 College Junior

Campus Resources: Honestly, I cannot give a unique thing about the school other than the artwork that posted around the building. The dinning room has a mural that is really beautiful and the campus is clean, but there are not a lot of opportunities of places to meet people and hang out. Besides the library and dinning room, most people just keep to themselves and those are really the only places where you may see some one.

2 College Junior

Campus Resources: Because Virginia Highlands is a Community College, there are not as many campus activities, sports, and clubs that would be available to a University. The library is in dire need of more computers, more books besides just resource books for class, and comfier places to study upon. Besides the second week of school, there are not a lot of campus activities. The school is mostly focused on academics, and of course that is important, but I would like to be able to experience a somewhat college life where I can meet people and have opportunists to explore activities and clubs.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: There are many opportunities to use computers and printers without cost, but there is a limited availability due to miniscule amount of computers. There is constant access to the wireless Internet. The school's system Blackboard sometimes has malfunctions and can be annoying to use because it automatically logs people out. It can be frustrating when you are trying to finish work and the system keeps logging you out.

5 College Junior

Academic Experience: Professors Very Helpful – My professors at VHCC were very helpful. They were available outside of the classroom and very happy to provide any assistance that I needed. The classes were small and very conducive to learning. I liked knowing my professors and seeing them in the classroom and on campus instead of on a video screen.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Pleased With Choice to Attend VHCC – I gradauated in May of this year and believe I made a good choice in attending VHCC. It was a good transition between high school and a four year college.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: Facilities Are Pretty Good – Being a community college, Virginia Highlands is not really known for sports or thier athletic. So they do not really have an athlettic center. The student center is rather small, but I guess that is it reasonable for the size of the campus. Campus activites are always going on. Student are informed about these activites trhough their school email. They are current renovating different parts of the school to make it even more student friendly.
