4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: There is a lot of freedom allowed, but it is pretty strict if you are in a dorm.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Campus is not that strict. For the most part, everyone keeps to themselves and teachers put the responsibility of attendance onto the students. Underage drinking is common off campus. Visitation if fairly strict; visitors, limited to two per student, need to bring a valid ID.

2 College Sophomore

VCU Campus Police are constantly patrolling campus throughout the day, which means if you don't do anything wrong, they won't even notice you. Most police officers on campus are dealing with students who are speeding in their cars. They tend to ignore students jaywalking and bicyclists riding down the wrong side of the street. Their main goal is to be seen on campus and to ensure the safety of their students.

Every now and then, police are called to go to out-of-control parties around campus. Usually they just tell underage drinkers to throw out their drinks and go home. Tickets aren't usually written, and all is forgiven as long as there is no sign of recklessness. That's not to say that, if police are constantly being called, a more severe action won't be taken against you. VCU police are also active in helping students report cases of theft or acts of vandalism. Their presence on campus makes it clear that they are here to help keep order on and around campus and to make the campus a safer place for students.
