Academic Experience: It's such a rewarding area of work. It's fun, and so interesting. We learn amazing new things every day. It's an 18 month program, two of which are spent doing an externship. And the placement director is a lovely lady, who helps you find the job of your dreams! Students have gone as far as Africa, working on animal reserves!

Academic Experience: The school only offers a degree in veterinary technology. And it's a very fast paced program. You really have to work hard to keep up, but it's doable if you're committed

Academic Flexibility: It's an advanced program, so there really isn't room for any flexibility. And the school offers any core classes that are required.

Facilities: The campus is downtown so it's not very scenic. But it works. There's a couple student lounges for studying and eating, as well as a library. The best part is these little rooms where you can bring animals out to play! Downside, there's only a couple. There should be more to support the number of students in the school enriching animals every day.

Career Services: The school offers job placement services that you can use at any time in your career. They'll help set up interviews as well.

Overall Experience: All the teachers are so very very dedicated and loving. They're some of the kindest people I've had the pleasure to meet. They truly care about their students and really get to know us. The classes are smaller, so everyone grows really close and tight-knit. The teachers treat the students like equals as well, which is refreshing. And I'd definitely chose this school over agin if I had the choice. It is and ACCELERATED program though, so it is very fast paced and requires lots if attention and studying. A lot of students don't take this into consideration before going in. When they say accelerated, they mean it. You have to be fully dedicated to it.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid process has been very smooth and easy! The counselors have helped me through every step, and make things quick and easy! Tuition is very affordable, and there are many options for payment. The financial aid department is also very helpful and understanding when it comes to payments being missed or late due to personal issues. They're really down to earth people.

Campus Resources: The library is great. There are two student lounges with lockers, tables, vending machines, and microwaves. Only complaint is that there should be more rooms to enrich animals in. There aren't enough to accommodate all the students taking out animals for enrichment and assignments. Overall good!

Campus Resources: Wifi is constantly dying on the teachers when they try to show us videos and things in class. And it doesn't reach all the whole school. It definitely needs to be fixed! Library is great though. There's no need to have a personal computer, some students do just because. But most students use the library's printers and computers

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid process went by so easily. I do not have to start paying on anything until after 2 months after I graduate.

Campus Resources: My school is amazing, especially when it comes to finances. Yes you do have to pay if you don;t have scholarships but it's nothing like going to a four year collage. The financial department helps you find the best financial plan based on your needs, and they walk you through step by step to better help you understand, it makes all the difference.

Student Body: Though I haven't met many of the student body, just by looking at them I could tell that they were very hard working people. Many of them have other obligations whether it be their children, family, or their pets that they didn't spare much time for making friends.

Career Services: Vet Tech does so much to make their students feel at home.
We get to literally grow with the animals as we progress into getting out degree. Not only do you graduate as a Vet tech, you also graduate with your associates degree. I am absolutely in love with the placement program they offer. They offer to help you find a job into the field you want when you graduate. They'll even help you find a job while you're still in school.

Student Body: There isn't much diversity because it's downtown. Mostly caucasian. Besides that everyone is great. Everyone is there for the same reason and there's a lot of positive energy.

Campus Resources: We don't have athletics because it's an institute but the student centers are great. The campus activities are fun and creative. We take field trips to learn more about our field, and everything is very hands on.

Campus Resources: What I love about my school is that they try to make everyone connected. The students all connect and build relationships. And the program of saving ASPCA animals is very helpful to the community and the lives of the animals.

Career Services: Within a couple of months at VTI you will most likely know what field you would like to go into with your RVT degree. On campus we have one staff member specifically placed to find students their 2 month externship, and then help them get employed either at that externship or at another location. Pretty much you just go up and tell her what field you're looking to making a career out of and she will find jobs and externships for you in that specific field.

Campus Resources: The facilities are pretty nice, it is an older building so everything isn't very up to date. I do love that we have these little rooms we call fishbowls, which has a sliding glass door with a desk and some chairs inside the room. This is where on our down time we are allowed to bring in one of the pets with us and study or eat lunch. It's just a fun and unique way for studying to get done, but it also keeps it private. I love getting the opportunity to socialized with the different dogs and cats we have at vet tech, you get to bond with them while taking care of them. Everyday we walk, feed and groom the dogs and cats it's a very stress relieving activity we have on campus.

Campus Resources: Vet Tech Institute of Houston has some of the greatest and most welcoming staff you will ever meet. We even have a woman who works there that is dedicated to making the experience for the students at the school the best it can be. If one of our professors gives us too much homework at one time, she is the one who will go up and talk it out with the professor to give us more time to compete it. It's wonderful to have a a staff member who is there to meet the needs of students, it lets you know you're not alone and there always someone there to help you. I also love the fact that everything is so hands on and the classes are not very big so there's more one on one time.
