2 College Junior

Parking: Too many staff parking spots and not enough student spots.

5 College Student

Parking: The parking is very great because they make sure everyone is given an area to park my having a huge garage The garage is almost in the center of the campus so it is pretty convenient. Many of the parking lots are taken quickly so the garage gives everyone a chance to park easily.

2 College Freshman

Parking: The parking garage is not very convenient and as a freshman that is the only place you can park.

1 College Sophomore

Parking: We are very overcrowded and even with freshman not being aloud to have a car on campus there is absolutely nowhere to park ever. It's extremely annoying and inconvenient, but the university is working on making more parking.

College Junior

Parking: I haven't needed or used parking.

Parking, at times, causes a lot of stress and frustration, especially when students are searching for a spot close to a residence hall or a class that they are late for. The lots are not necessarily right next to any buildings because they are placed on the edges of campus. The University is attempting to make Valpo primarily a walking campus, and that is ultimately the best way to get around. No matter where you park, you are going to have to walk to get anywhere, so unless you are a commuter, a car is not beneficial for getting around campus.

VUPD is in charge of issuing parking passes and ticketing, but officers have admitted that VUPD does not limit the number of passes based on the number of parking spaces available to students. Thus, during the busiest times of the day, it will take a while to find an open parking spot, especially one near the desired destination.

Senior parking permits are available only to those students with senior class standing, and allow those students to park in resident or commuter parking areas. Commuter permits are available to any and all enrolled students who live off campus, including fraternity members.
