5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Most options for off campus eating are within a 10 minute walk, and a few sub shops right on the edge of campus next to the freshman dorms. Another local place on the edge of campus called Industrial Revolution has the best burgers.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: most restaurants are within walking distance, not sure on student discounts. can not say on best places until I know somebodies food preferences

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: I appreciate the variety of campus choices that Valparaiso as a city provides. I would like to see more discount opportunities at more sit-down restaurants like The Tomato bar, Yatz, or even Noodles and Company, if that would be at all possible. As a student on a tight-budget though I do sometimes it find it hard to get vegan-friendly options that don't cost a fortune, still I can't complain to much because there are at least options for me and I am not completely out of luck.

Off-Campus Dining: There's definitely enough variety to keep you busy. I still have yet to try a lot of the off-campus restaurants. There's a bunch of cafes and restaurants as well as a few little ethnic places, all of which are pretty close to campus. Some of the places are a little expensive, but there's a few cheaper pizza places, Subway and Jimmy John's right across the street, and my personal favorite, the Dynasty Buffet. So there is definitely something for everyone food-wise.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: Basically everyone eats in the Union.

What the town of Valparaiso lacks in exciting activities, it makes up for in dining. Valparaiso has an incredible blend of fast food, casual eats, and fancy dining options. Every fast food venue you can think of is available, including a Quizno’s and Panera Bread, along with old favorites like Steak ‘n Shake. Casual dining options like Applebee's and Chili's are available close to campus. Everything from Italian to Chinese to Spanish is waiting for your taste buds. Maria Elena's is a huge favorite of everyone on campus. They have American, Mexican, and Italian cuisine with prices comparable to Chili’s. El Amigo, while not fancy in the least, is a late-night favorite. You'll need a car to get there, but from what everyone says, the burritos are worth more than the five-minute drive. There are many unique small restaurants in the city, too.

Dining hall options can quickly exhaust themselves despite the Dining Services' staff doing what they can to vary the menu and come up with new and exciting meals. It’s easy to take an evening and head out with friends to one of the great restaurants in Valparaiso. The best thing is that once you’ve tried one place, you know you could always go back again, but with all the other options, why not try something new?
