Surprisingly, UW has made many improvements on campus dining in the past few years. Rhetas Cafeteria, located in Chadbourne Residential College, is the newest dining facility. It offers a wide array of food options, from its Mongolian grill and pasta station, to the salad and fruit bar, as well as hamburgers and fries. UW has made changes in its dining experience by offering more choices and taking student suggestions for what they most want to eat. Public and private dorms do provide meal plans and try to meet the appetites of their residents. Most halls will offer a variety of main entrees along with vegetarian options. Students will admit that dorm cafeterias are convenient for location, price, and student socialization.
While the food may still be classified as typical "dorm food" by some students, UW does offer a fair amount of dining locations. The private dorms all have on-site cafeterias, and meal plans that transfer to the other private dorms. Public dorms, however, vary in dining locations; some have on-site cafés and some don’t. Hours of service vary as well. The majority of the dorms have specific times when breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served and those coming in late are out of luck. For those not able to make the regulated mealtimes try the on-campus alternatives like Pop’s Club or Ed’s Express. Their hours don’t directly coincide with dorm cafés, and tend to be open later as well. Make sure to check your hall’s meal plan, though, for specifications. Overall, students generally don’t mind eating in the dorms and enjoy the variety that is offered.
