4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Lots of students smoke weed to ease the stress of classes, but no one treats you differently if you don't.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The strictness can be too much at times, some RAs take their job way too seriously.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Winters can be brutal. Expect everyone to be wearing shorts and t-shirts when it hits 50 degrees.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: No strong opinion. The finical aid is pretty average for a public university.

4 College Freshman

Computers: ResNet sucks, but there's always an open computer lab.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Intramurals can get alittle too competitive at times (especially in southeast). Varsity sports are simply impeccable.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life has a pretty strong presence on campus and can be hard to avoid at times. They are all pretty homogenous and can be pretty judgmental at times.

5 College Freshman

Nightlife: There's always something going on, no matter what night it is.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Many cases of theft, and occasional violence. Don't walk alone at night if you're a girl.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: It's VERY expensive and you have to start searching much earlier than you would think. A lot of variety though.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: State Street has a lot of variation. Pretty much every type of food you can think of.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: It can be VERY easy to get into trouble, especially freshman year. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Very beautiful city. Quite by the lake, lively toward State Street.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: There are many opportunities for ride share programs. Airport located very near campus.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: There aren't many minorities on campus. I haven't heard an cases of prejudice, just a midwestern thing.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Its not too strict to where we can't have any fun. Its perfect

5 College Freshman

Transportation: The bus is extremely helpful especially in the winter when its freezing cold

5 College Junior

Athletics: Nothing beats a Saturday Badger football game or watching the basketball team make their way deep into the NCAA tournament.

2 College Junior

Scholarships: I am in much financial aid, and the FAFSA does not adequately inquire about my finances. I receive help, but not in the amounts that I need in order to have money play less of a stressful role in my college experience.

4 College Junior

Academics: It is very challenging and pushes students to their limits. It really prepares us for entering the workforce once we graduate from here.

3 College Junior

Diversity: I believe that diversity is still a nationwide issue for colleges, and this school neither excels or falls behind when it relates to diversity.

2 College Junior

Weather: It is not fun going to class when snow covers the ground and eventually turns to slush. Also it is not easy going from class to class in boots and a heavy winter coat when it is freezing outside.

3 College Junior

Transportation: The fact that students get a free bus pass is great, but taxis are always too busy when students need them.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: The variety is fantastic with a large array of foods that will satisfy any craving day or night.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: The campus is strict, but it is intended to keep students safe which is fine by me.

Students put a lot of time and energy into their undergraduate education. Luckily for those at UW, many feel it has been a positive experience. The college atmosphere, expansive campus, and intense academics are only some of the reasons students enjoy UW so much. Students feel they are able to form relationships with other students, as well as their professors. Furthermore, UW leaves them prepared for their future.

An individual’s undergraduate experience is one of the most exciting times in their lives. It is often the first time they are away from parents and making serious decisions about their future. Therefore, it is essential to pick the best university to spend these busy years at. UW offers amazing academics, an inviting atmosphere, and energetic student body. Its location geographically makes it comfortable as well as gorgeous. The facilities are very accommodating, as is the transportation system. Though like any school, there are things that can be improved upon or changed. Parking remains a prevalent issue, for instance. Fortunately, though, issues such as diversity and improvements to the quality of the dorm food are being addressed. Students generally leave the school feeling satisfied and prepared for what’s to come. Wherever you decide to spend your undergraduate years, definitely consider the University of Wisconsin as a practical, exciting, and fulfilling option.
