Off-Campus Housing: Most houses are not put together well and are in poor conditions.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: This is a small town so most of the off campus housing for students is run down but still pricey.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: While very affordable and usually close to campus, most of the houses that students rent out are run down and look terrible.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are lots of houses and apartment complexes to choose from. Everything is pretty close in Menomonie

Off-Campus Housing: There defiantly is a big verity when looking for off-campus housing. Parking is a little rough because there is really no drive ways of garages. One would be lucky to find a house with a garage. landlords can vary as well. I really like my landlords and they make the process very easy but I have heard of others friends that did not get so lucky.

    Best Off-Campus Housing Options

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Oh, the joys of living off campus! After your first two years of living on campus, you will be ready to venture out. Students enjoy the freedom of off-campus living; however, freedom does come with its challenges. You now have to cook your own meals, clean your own shower, and pay rent and utilities.

When looking for off-campus housing, start early. The good places are usually taken by the end of October or early November. If you wait too late, you may have to resort to substandard living, which Menomonie has its share of! Ask around for the best landlords and rental companies, and avoid the ones with low reviews. When taking tours of apartments or houses, try to ask the current tenants what they think of the place and the landlord. Some companies have been known to take advantage of students. As a rule of thumb, break-ins are not a big concern in Menomonie. However, your best defense is to lock your doors at all times and keep your windows locked when away. The bottom line is that Stout offers plenty of off-campus living options within walking or biking distance from campus at affordable rates. You should not pay more than $275 per month for a place to live in if you live with other students.
