3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The health clinic on campus has very limited and unrealistic hours. They are open maybe 4 and a half hours a day (usually when people have classes). It's a hike to get near it no matter if you're on North or South campus. I haven't heard of any good reviews from it either. Prices are rather high compared to going to a local pharmacy like Walgreens.

Health & Safety: Never feel worried. In a small town though so not much happens.

3 College Student

Health & Safety: There isn't really any campus police during the day but at night the local police are everywhere looking for drunk underagers.

Health & Safety: The health and safety life on campus is pretty good. I have yet to go to the health center but I have heard from friends that it is helpful, I but slow but helpful. health wise and security in the dorms is a little different. one new dorm is bring remade because the structure was unstable to live in, but I lived in it for a few weeks before I moved out. Everyone had to be out by the end of the semester. Security wise I am a little concerned with the safety between students. One of my close friends doesn't see eye to eye with his roommate and by moving a few things from the floor to vacuum, his roommate scratched 40 of his final records which my friend has invested in for years with his dad. There hasn't been a whole lot of roommate security problems but I think they should be handled in a more secure manor.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most students feel very safe on the Stout campus and in the Menomonie community. The UW-Stout Police Department and Menomonie Police are very visible. So visible, in fact, that you can't go from one end of town to the other without seeing a police officer. The campus is lit especially well, and many students feel comfortable walking home alone at night, even if it's not advised. Most problems on campus involve vandalism, drinking, or stolen bikes.

In recent years, residence hall security has improved. There are now video cameras at the main entrance to every building, and University Housing has done a better job patrolling the hallways after dark for suspicious behavior. Although most students feel safe, many believe that the campus should take more precautionary measures. The campus does not offer an escort service, nor does the campus have blue-light emergency telephones.
