There are drugs on every campus. Students who want to find them will, and students that don't want to find them won't. Occasionally, at parties off campus, small groups of students may go off and smoke marijuana, or you may even smell it in the residence halls once in a while. Local authorities report that meth use has become a problem in the area; however, hard drugs like meth and cocaine are not widely used by Stout students. Overall, drugs are not a noticeable part of campus life, and students are definitely not pressured to participate.
Alcohol use has been a problem at Stout in the past, though. The campus police and University Housing have been known to crack down hard when students are found to be doing drugs in the residence halls. Stout is still known as a party school, but most students agree that UW-Madison has Stout beat.
