Most students agree that food is decent on campus. The two main cafeterias on campus offer the best value because you are charged for the meal, not per item. The à la carte options offer a wider variety; however, the prices are more expensive. The dining plans are different from most universities in that you don't buy a 14-meal-a-week plan. At Stout, you add a certain dollar amount to your Baseline account, and at each meal or with each item you buy, money is deducted off that account. You don't pay for the meals you don't eat!
At the two main cafeterias, Tainter and Commons, you get one entrée item and then you get all-you-can-eat sides, salads, desserts, and drinks. Some students complain that the vegetarian options are lacking. The food options do get old after a while and, as a result, many students choose to visit the à la carte options more frequently. Most of the options are located in the Memorial Student Center. Students tend to agree that these options are too expensive, and the prices should be lowered.
