Health & Safety: Security on campus is seen when you need them. Most of the police are also very friendly and willing to spend a few extra minutes to talk if they have the time. Yet while some are overbearing in their job, others make situations with the police a little more comfortable.

Local Atmosphere: There is not much to do in Platteville. While there are essential stores around such as Wal-Mart, Aldi's, and Piggly Wiggly, there isn't a whole lot more.

2 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: While the campus is a little too strict in areas that really shouldn't matter, they are lenient in other areas. For example, attendance is mandatory for a big portion of classes, and if a student exceeds an abstinence limit, they fail the class. Parking is also over strict because a lot of students commute to and from school. The parking passes that are available are outrageously expensive too.

3 College Freshman

Computers: The school used to have a lot of computers. But they are downsizing on the computer labs. The biggest lab we had, the Bear's Den, had half of the computers removed and new office spaces were installed. It pretty essential for you to bring your own laptop to school. The good news is that wireless access is fantastic, there is WiFi almost everywhere you go.

College Freshman

Nightlife: I tend to stay at friends houses and have a small get together so I don't know too much about parties or the bar scenes. I know they do get rowdy at times from hearing stories from other people.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The only type of drugs really seen around campus is weed. Of course there have been issues of students trying to cook meth and heroine, but those students are snuffed out quickly by law enforcement for campus has little tolerance of that. Then alcohol is maintained to a point that campus p.d. can handle it with no major headache. Most students who drink know not to get out of hand and ruin it for the rest of the students around here.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather has absolutely no affect on campus. Everyone fights through it, and some act as if weather doesn't exist because they keep doing their own thing no matter what. It's hysterical sometimes to see students dressed in different types of weather.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The cost of some food is ridiculous. The locations of where to get substantial food is out of reach for a majority of the campus. While having the main dining hall at Bridgeway is nice for students on that side of campus, it's out of reach sometimes for students on the other side of campus. And there isn't always enough time to get a quick and healthy bite to eat, or else the healthy food is expensive and doesn't cover a full meal.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: There isn't a lot of diversity among students, the only exception to this is the international students who attend the university. Socializing with other students can be difficult at times due to the cliques around here. If a student doesn't hold up to the norm around here, they are not accepted at first.

Athletics: The athletics in school is constantly praised and given a lot of attention. Students show huge support for athletes, especially during the football and basketball seasons, but that's to be expected. The athletic facilities here at school are fantastic, because they reach to every sport they can for students to participate in and to keep a healthy lifestyle.

Greek Life: Greek life at Platteville is very active. They attempt to get students to participate in their activities, and most of them are very friendly. The housing Greeks have is quite nice, and they like to hold parties a lot to keep students entertained since there is not much to do for students in the Platteville area.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I do not participate in Greek Life, so I do not have an opinion.

Nightlife: People who party at Platteville are usually not smart about what they chose to do. Some are, some not so much. I chose to work every weekend instead of party. I don't feel like being cold and dressing up nice is worth going to a crappy underage party just to possibly get busted. The bar life is better than house parties. Platteville has some pretty decent bars. Over all the party life is sloppy, and usually is a bunch of binge drinkers.

Transportation: Considering the size of UW Platteville it doesn't take a whole lot to make a very convenient transportation system. We have one bus that goes around campus and into town. I can't say that I've used it since walking doesn't take long. Now if someone wanted to go to a different city, we have a board set up where people can post where they are heading, when, and how many spots they have open. Someone can also request a ride. This I have used and it has worked very well. Many students use it so it was very easy to find a ride.

Scholarships: Everything went smoothly and my financial aid was processed and accepted quickly.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: The campus is made up of over 90% Caucasian. I am not in the minority, so I would not know the challenges regarding the racial differences.

College Junior

Transportation: Not applicable. I have my own car.

Campus Housing: I live in Southwest. You get your own bedroom and share common space with three other people. Cleanliness I guess depends on your and your suite mates. But I love it in Southwest! I'm spoiled here.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: Nothing really to say. It went really well.

Nightlife: Well I'm 21 so I go out to the bars often. They're nice and quaint. Once you frequent them often, you see a lot of familiar faces and the bartenders become very friendly to you (not that they aren't otherwise). In other words, they will have a shot on them for instance and talk to you on a more personal level (they know your name) since you patronize their business regularly! It's a lot of fun and drinks are priced averagely.

Health & Safety: This past semester has had quite a few crimes, but other semesters were never like this. It was discouraging, but hopefully this semester will be better.

College Junior

Athletics: Again, I personally don't really participate.

College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: I don't frequent these places enough really.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: I would say the parking is probably the strictest thing I have heard about.

4 College Junior

Academics: The professors I've had so far are really great, especially Aric Dutelle. Registration is easy, there are great places on campus to study. The classrooms are nice for the most part and the workload depends on your major of course. I would say it sounds like engineering is the most difficult.
