Off-Campus Housing: Housing is pretty affordable and easy to find. Although houses are not kept in good condition, or refurnished. Landlords around here try to take every penny from you, they will accuse you of breaking or damaging property just so they can keep security deposits. Parking is pretty easy to find and most places have garages. There are University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee police, safe walkers, and boss around campus to make sure everyone is in the safest environment. The average cost ranges from 400-500 and all apartments and housing is very convenient in correlation with the campus.

Computers: I don't use the university's computers because people are extremely inconsiderate and talk very loudly on their cell phones. I just use my lap top on my dorm room.

Local Atmosphere: Milwaukee is a beautiful city.

College Student

Nightlife: There are a ton of parties every night but I'm not the partying type. If I do go I go to dance not drink or do drugs.

4 College Student

Health & Safety: There are many great things about the college's safety, I've just never liked walking alone at night. Not even in my small home town of 600 people.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: I don't live off campus yet so I don't know what off campus housing is like.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: There's a bunch of things you can do at night, whether it is going to see a movie, going out to eat, bowling, hanging around, or going to parties.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: I love living in the city. It's nice to know there is always something to do or go see. It is a quick bus or car ride to downtown Milwaukee and any attractions, which is amazing.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I feel pretty safe around campus. They have the phones set up all over campus that you can call if you feel unsafe or you see something happening, so that is very reliable. I am a little concerned with the outside public interfering with campus, because there have been some robberies extremely close by.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial Aid is definitely a huge process, but I was able to get the aid I needed.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather doesn't affect the experience, we've all experienced Wisconsin weather before so everyone knows how to handle it.

1 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The strictness on campus is horrible. My friends think its unbelievably strict compared to their school or other schools. I think everyone is human, and the RA's and staff need to treat students as human beings and not time bombs for disaster. I understand they are looking out for safety, but when everything is safe and nobody is being harmed, then there is no need to be a jerk and kick people off the property because of a little noise.

2 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life isn't a big part of UWM, there aren't any sorority or fraternity houses and they don't advertise much. Neither me nor my friends know or talk about Greek life

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The shuttle system is pretty reliable, but inconvenient if you are in a hurry. The drivers take their time and stay at one location for up to 15 minutes sometimes. I would like to have my own car here next year to be able to get a job off campus and not have to rely on the city bus system, because they can be unreliable sometimes.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Mostly everyone at UWM goes out to drink at least once a month or week. Sometimes it gets extreme and people go out every single weekend. There's a lot of students who get in trouble for drinking in the dorms, but peer pressure isn't really that forced. Everyone just does what they want, but if friends are doing it then others usually will too

Campus Housing: Living on campus is very convenient, except when you don't live in the main dorms. I live a mile away and have to rely on the shuttle bus system to bring me to class, and I have to set aside an extra half hour just to get to my classes. It is really nice to have my own bathroom and large fridge in my dorm. The cost is a little extreme, and it's inconvenient if you didn't decide to choose the more expensive dorm. The social atmosphere at the dorm on campus is amazing, everyone knows each other on their floor and there's so much going on all the time. The dorms that are a mile away are almost barren, and not many people talk to their neighbors. I wish there was more social interaction here.

Majors: I really enjoy being in the Art and Design program. There are so many courses to choose from and all of the professors are well educated and very personable. I don't know what my career path is yet exactly, but my classes are helping me figure out what my interests are. I'm mostly concerned about finding a job that I am happy with and that will support me financially.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I didn't find any difficulties getting into the Art program. The most important criteria is most likely the portfolio submission, and I thought I had a great portfolio developed from high school.

5 College Student

Transportation: I'm a communer; therefore, I park at a parking lot for free and then get into a bus also for free taht drops me off in campus. It's very useful, I love their service.

5 College Student

Campus Strictness: I believe that it doesn't affect the education but instead it opens the security of the campus and students.

5 College Student

Greek Life: It allows students to get a sence of how to help the community and be there for one another. Apart from that Greek life helps the students get a closer bond with the University.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: The nursing program at UWM is a very big program, so if individuals don't mind large class sizes it is an okay program.

College Sophomore

Majors: I have not had an internship.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The atmosphere of Milwaukee is that of a large city, giving it a dirty appearance at times. The campus is typically cluttered with garbage after a weekend of college kids destroying the cleanliness.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: While there are many options for houses to rent, some landlords are difficult to work with. Some landlords are constantly upping the prices on their properties, making it near impossible to afford every amenity wanted.
