Facts & Statistics

Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Definitely live in the old dorms for at least a year-they are more social and friendly.
  • Even if you don't get into the classes you want during summer orientation, do not fear, you can always try to get in during the first week of  classes.

Overnight Visits
UVA doesn't generally offer overnight visits for prospective students. It's best if you know someone who is already living in the dorms and can stay with him/her. Just show up for a tour. There is no need to reserve a space on a tour or in an information session. You may want to call ahead (434) 982-3200 or check the Web site to find out where they will be held, as they can vary. If all else fails, simply show up at Peabody Hall (the admissions building) a little beforehand.
