Campus Strictness: People do get in trouble. I've never had a problem.

Campus Strictness: The rules regarding alcohol and drugs in the dorms are very lenient. It is very uncommon for there to be serious consequences. Also, in my experience, my classes have been very strict in terms of attendance policies, out of 10 classes, only 1 didn't have an attendance policy this year, but I have friends who had a full year of classes with no attendance policies at all.

Campus Strictness: Every school is strict about stuff. The main goal is to keep us safe though, so if you screw up big time and are really sick from booze, your friends can get you help and you won't get in much trouble really, you will just have to do some annoying stuff for a few weeks, but its better than dying of alcohol poisoning.

Campus Strictness: UVM is pretty lenient in terms of most things, except for parking. In terms of partying, it really depends on your RA.

The campus-wide implementation of strictness leaves some students aggravated and feeling as though their rights are being violated. Other students, meanwhile, like the added feeling of security with increased police presence and firmness. But regardless of your personal view, common sense will keep you out of trouble and prevent you from having to answer to the law.

It is true that campus police are stricter than they used to be. They are more lenient to alcohol offenses than they are marijuana charges, but if you’re irresponsible or unlucky, you are asking for trouble. As it stands, charges for possession of pot endangers your chances of obtaining or continuing to receive federal student aid, including loans and grants—a line that many people can’t afford to cross.
